Kiddi Caru Day Nursery, Wellingborough

Healthy eating is something we care about a great deal here. Nutritious, tasty meals are included in our fees, so families can be confident their child is getting proper nutrition through the day. Alongside that, yoga sessions and plenty of time in the garden give children the balance of activity and calm that helps them feel well.

Our day nursery is for families as much as for children. The GrandirUK app shares daily activities, care plans and meals so you always know how the day has gone, and our nursery library and home learning bags help you carry the learning on at home. Parent meetings, open day events and seasonal festivities keep everyone connected through the year.

There is plenty going on every day at Kiddi Caru Wellingborough. Older children enjoy Boogie Mites while our youngest take part in Mini Mites, and across the nursery children join yoga, woodwork sessions and Sing and Sign. These extras add real excitement to our early years curriculum and give children new skills to be proud of.

Our purpose-built Wellingborough nursery has rooms named after gemstones, arranged across two floors so children take a natural step up as they grow.

• Amethyst: Our room for the youngest babies, on the ground floor.
• Jade and Opal: Cosy, warm rooms for our older babies, also on the ground floor.
• Sapphire: Our ground-floor toddler room, where children build independence.
• Diamond: Our younger preschool room, on the first floor.
• Emerald: Our room for older preschool children, full of opportunities that prepare them for school.

The ground-floor rooms all have free-flow access to the garden, and Sapphire is where children develop the independence they need before moving up to the first floor. Every room is well resourced, because the building was designed with children’s development in mind from the start.

Outdoor space

Our garden is large enough for all our children to explore together, and it wraps right around the nursery with a mixture of natural and artificial grass. A decking area gives non-mobile babies somewhere to join in with activities outdoors.

In one corner stands our yurt, which we use with a log burner for supervised outdoor activities: a proper year-round space rather than a summer one. Children also have a wild garden with a mud kitchen and bug hotel, and a large sandpit with a water pump.

Settling in matters more than anything else at the start. Our homely, spacious rooms are set up so a child can find a comfortable corner quickly, and our team pay close attention in those first weeks until nursery feels like somewhere they belong.

Our Wellingborough curriculum is built on loose parts play: open-ended natural resources that children can move, combine and take apart for themselves. This supports problem-solving alongside physical and cognitive development, and the Curiosity Approach encourages children to explore the natural world at their own pace.

Wellingborough families with two children find one Farm Road drop-off makes the morning far more manageable. Our baby and toddler rooms are on the ground floor and preschool sits upstairs, so siblings have their own space, but the wraparound garden is shared and they see each other out there most days. Sibling places depend on what we have free, and we will happily talk you through the options.

Emma, our Nursery Manager, leads a long-standing team at Kiddi Caru Wellingborough, and many of our colleagues have spent most of their Early Years careers here. That consistency shows in the strong, lasting bonds they build with the children, and in the expertise they bring to each room every day.
