Nutritious food, enjoyable mealtimes 

 

Tasty, nutritious food is an important part of every nursery day. From meals and snacks that provide the nourishment children need to learn, play and grow, to sharing food with friends and discovering new tastes, we want mealtimes to be a positive and enjoyable part of nursery life.

 

Our nursery teams support children to develop positive experiences with food from an early age, while taking individual dietary requirements, allergies and needs into careful consideration.

  • We cater for individual dietary requirements, including vegetarian and vegan diets

  • Our traffic light system helps us manage allergies and dietary requirements safely at mealtimes

  • Our four-week rolling menus change with the seasons, offering children variety throughout the year

  • A range of flavours and textures encourages children to explore and try different foods

  • Shared mealtimes give children opportunities to develop social skills, including taking turns and eating together

Mealtimes as children grow

For babies, mealtimes provide valuable one-to-one time with their nursery practitioner as they begin to explore new tastes and textures. Our baby menus support different stages of the weaning journey, with the type, texture and portion of food adapted to each child’s individual needs.

 

As children grow, mealtimes become an increasingly social part of the nursery day. Eating together gives children opportunities to explore different foods, talk and interact with others, make choices and become more involved in their own mealtime routines.
