Welcome to Kiddi Caru Day Nursery Abington Grove, a red-brick nursery just off the A45 in Northampton. We welcome children from birth to 5 years and are open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 6:00pm.
Kiddi Caru Abington Grove is around a five-minute walk from St George’s Avenue and close to Abington Park, Racecourse Park and local shops. Bus routes from Welford Road and Kingsthorpe also make the nursery accessible for families travelling from across the surrounding area.
Good food, time outdoors and opportunities to slow down all form part of wellbeing at Abington Grove. Our on-site chef prepares nutritious meals each day, while relaxed, sociable mealtimes give children opportunities to serve themselves, talk with others and develop growing independence.
Outdoors, children have space to be active and explore, alongside a reading nook for quieter moments with a book.
We keep families informed through the GrandirUK App, sharing activities, meals and updates from their child’s day. Regular communication and nursery events give families more opportunities to be involved in nursery life and connect with the team and wider nursery community.
Children at Kiddi Caru Abington Grove enjoy creative play, sensory activities, Make and Bake sessions and Boogie Mites music, giving them opportunities to explore, create and develop new skills through hands-on experiences.
Regular outings also take children into the local community, with visits to nearby parks and shared projects with local groups giving them opportunities to meet new people, enjoy different experiences and become more familiar with the community around them.
Our Abington Grove nursery was refurbished in summer 2024 and has dedicated rooms for each age group, from babies through to preschool. Each room is thoughtfully arranged around the needs of the children using it, with age-appropriate spaces and resources for play, learning and quieter moments.
Children move into their next room when they are developmentally and emotionally ready, rather than simply based on age. This allows each transition to be shaped around the individual child and gives them time to become comfortable with their new environment.
Outdoor space
Outdoor learning is an important part of life at Abington Grove. Our outdoor room, vegetable plot, mud kitchen and sand pit give children plenty of opportunities to dig, build, create, experiment and explore, while a reading nook provides a quieter place to enjoy a book.
In our growing garden, children can plant, tend and harvest across the seasons, learning more about where food comes from and how we can care for the environment. As an Eco-Schools accredited nursery, these everyday experiences form part of our wider approach to helping children understand the world around them.
Our youngest children have opportunities to explore outdoors too, with painting and sensory experiences giving babies different ways to discover textures, materials and the environment around them.
Families can expect dependable, high-quality care in a recently refurbished nursery, with spaces designed to feel warm and welcoming. Our team take time to get to know each child as an individual, including their routines, interests and needs.
We value open communication with families and welcome their feedback, working together to help ensure each child’s care reflects what matters to them and their family.
Our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage, with children learning through play, exploration and discovery. Our team build on children’s interests and introduce purposeful experiences that support communication, social skills and physical development.
A familiar daily rhythm gives children opportunities to develop growing independence at their own pace, while experiences build on their learning and development as they move through the nursery and begin to prepare for school.
We believe children benefit from a familiar rhythm to their day, with plenty of opportunities within it to choose, discover and try things for themselves. At Abington Grove, this balance gives children space to follow their interests, explore new ideas and develop growing independence.
As an Eco-Schools accredited nursery, we also help children explore their relationship with the world around them. Through everyday experiences, they can begin to understand how the choices they make can help care for their environment.
Nursery needs to work for the whole family, especially when more than one child attends. At Abington Grove, siblings in different rooms still have opportunities to spend time together in the garden and at mealtimes, while having spaces and experiences suited to their own age and stage.
For families bringing more than one child, one drop-off and pick-up also helps keep the daily routine simpler. Sibling places are subject to availability, but we will always do what we can to find places for brothers and sisters at the nursery together.
James, our Nursery Manager, leads a long-serving team at Abington Grove, with recognised childcare qualifications across the nursery. Just as importantly, our team take the time to get to know each child as an individual, understanding their interests, routines and the support they need.
The team also have experience supporting children with additional needs, including physical disabilities, working closely with families to understand each child’s needs and provide appropriate support.
