Our nursery types

Across our nursery network, you’ll find a range of educational approaches and specialisms that help shape each child’s nursery experience.

From the independence and purposeful learning encouraged through Montessori, to outdoor exploration through Forest School and the calm, nurturing environments inspired by Hygge, each approach offers something different.

Many of our nurseries take a blended approach, combining elements from different philosophies to create unique learning experiences. Explore our nursery types below to see what each approach looks like in practice and how it supports children’s learning, development and wellbeing.

Curiosity Approach

Where imagination meets learning

The Curiosity Approach encourages exploration, discovery and a natural love of learning, with children's curiosity and interests at its heart.

A number of our nurseries are inspired by elements of the Curiosity Approach, creating opportunities for children to use their imagination, follow their interests and discover through their own experiences.

By giving curiosity and wonder room to grow, these experiences can help build foundations for children's learning and development.

Eco-Schools

Learning to care for our world

The Eco-Schools programme brings environmental learning into everyday nursery experiences, helping children explore the natural world and discover simple ways to care for it.

Through hands-on experiences, children can explore topics such as nature, biodiversity, recycling, food, water and energy. It makes sustainability something children can see, explore and take part in as part of nursery life.

Forest School

Learning and exploring in the natural world

The Forest School approach brings learning outdoors - giving children opportunities to explore, discover and develop through experiences in nature.

Some of our nurseries are Forest School accredited, while a large number are inspired by elements of Forest School, using outdoor exploration and practical experiences to encourage children to follow their interests, test their ideas and build confidence in the natural world.

Hygge

Calm, nurturing spaces inspired by Hygge

Many of our nurseries are inspired by elements of the Hygge approach, using calm environments, strong relationships, connections with nature and meaningful everyday experiences to create welcoming spaces where children can feel comfortable, connected and ready to explore.

Montessori

Learning inspired by independence and discovery

Montessori inspired learning encourages children to learn through hands-on experiences, make choices and discover things for themselves.

Many of our nurseries are inspired by elements of Montessori, creating thoughtfully arranged environments where children can explore activities that reflect their interests and stage of development. Practitioners support their learning through observation and guidance, while encouraging growing independence.
