Pelham Road is one of three Dicky Birds nurseries in Wimbledon, alongside Queens Road and Dundonald Road, giving families a choice of local settings within the area.
Children’s wellbeing at Pelham Road is supported through familiar routines, nutritious food, physical activity and strong relationships. All meals are freshly prepared on site by our Nursery Chef, while weekly sessions with an Early Years PE coach give our older preschool children regular opportunities to enjoy active play and develop their physical skills.
Strong relationships with families are an important part of nursery life too. We hold regular family events where you can spend time with your child, meet other families and get to know our team.
The GrandirUK App also helps families stay connected with their child’s nursery day, with daily updates and progress reports sharing their routines, experiences and development.
Activities at Pelham Road are shaped around each child’s age and stage, with experiences that develop as children grow from babies through to preschool.
Forest School sessions take learning outdoors, where children can build dens, explore nature and look for wildlife, giving them opportunities to work together, solve problems and build confidence through hands-on experiences.
Regular outings also take children into the local community, with visits to Wimbledon Common, libraries and farms. These experiences give children opportunities to explore different environments and connect their learning at nursery with the world around them.
Our nursery is set on a quiet residential street on Pelham Road, with warm and engaging rooms designed around the needs of children at each age and stage. From our cosy Baby Room onwards, spaces are thoughtfully arranged with resources and equipment that support learning, exploration and different areas of children’s development.
Children move into their next room when they are developmentally and emotionally ready. Our team work closely with families throughout each transition, helping children become familiar and comfortable with their new space at their own pace.
All meals are freshly prepared on site by our Nursery Chef. We also have a qualified teacher who works with our preschool children, supporting their personal, social and emotional development and helping them build skills and confidence as they prepare for school.
Outdoor space
Our outdoor space offers different areas for children to play, explore and create. Children can enjoy books in the outdoor reading area, dig and build in the large sand pit, or paint, construct and experiment in the creative area.
The garden also provides opportunities for Forest School experiences and hands-on learning in our growing garden. Children have space to be active, explore appropriate risks and notice how the natural world changes through the seasons.
Quality care at Dicky Birds Pelham Road starts with getting to know each child and responding to their individual needs. Our nursery spaces and resources support different areas of learning and development, including physical, personal, social and emotional development.
Our team give children the time and attention they need to become comfortable and familiar with their environment, with plenty of opportunities to explore, make choices and follow their interests at their own pace.
Our approach to Early Years education is centred around each child, with experiences designed to encourage curiosity, build confidence and support learning through play and exploration.
Our bespoke education programmes — Move and Groove, Make and Bake, Innovate and Investigate, Health and Self, and Sow and Grow — bring different areas of learning to life through hands-on experiences. Together, they give children opportunities to communicate, create, investigate, make choices and develop growing independence.
We believe curiosity deserves the space and support to grow. At Pelham Road, that starts in our Baby Room, where familiar relationships and responsive care help babies feel secure as they begin to explore the world around them.
As children grow, that sense of discovery continues through play, exploration and Forest School sessions in the green spaces around Wimbledon. Children are encouraged to ask questions, try new things and discover what they can do, with experiences that support growing confidence and independence.
Having brothers and sisters at Pelham Road can make nursery life simpler for families, with one drop-off at our Wimbledon nursery. Each child has a space designed around their own age and stage, while siblings share the same outdoor space and become familiar with the wider nursery team.
Being part of the same nursery gives brothers and sisters opportunities to see each other during the day while enjoying their own experiences and routines. Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space, our team will be happy to explore the options with families.
Nursery Manager Jessica leads the experienced team at Dicky Birds Pelham Road, bringing together Early Years practitioners who are committed to providing high-quality care and education and continuing to develop their knowledge and practice.
Our trained SENCo works closely with the wider team and families to understand individual needs and provide appropriate support. The team have also helped the nursery achieve Eco-Schools Green Flag status, reflecting the environmental learning and activities that form part of nursery life.
