Welcome to Dicky Birds Day Nursery, Pepys Road, Raynes Park, south west London. We welcome children from 0 to 5 years and are open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm.
Our Raynes Park nursery is within walking distance of Raynes Park Station, with good public transport links and on-street parking nearby for drop-offs and pick-ups.
Inside, the nursery has a calm, homely feel, creating a warm and welcoming environment where children can become comfortable and familiar with nursery life at their own pace.
Children’s wellbeing at Pepys Road is supported through familiar routines, physical activity and regular opportunities to spend time outdoors. Yoga and mindfulness sessions give children opportunities to explore movement, balance and simple ways to relax, while our two gardens make outdoor play a regular part of nursery life.
Strong relationships with families are important to us too. We hold regular curriculum evenings, special events and stay-and-play sessions, giving families opportunities to be involved in nursery life and spend time with our team.
The GrandirUK App helps families stay connected with their child’s nursery day through updates on activities and progress. Our lending library also gives children opportunities to enjoy books at home, while home activity packs provide ideas for continuing learning and exploration beyond the nursery.
Activities at Pepys Road give children plenty of opportunities to explore, create and be active. Forest School sessions take learning outdoors, where children can build dens, walk in the woods and investigate wildlife while developing skills such as teamwork and problem-solving.
Make and Bake brings practical learning into the kitchen, giving children opportunities to explore ingredients and develop everyday skills. Older preschool children also take part in energetic PE sessions, while younger children can enjoy Tribal Football and Teddy Tennis, which alternate throughout the year.
Regular outings take children beyond the nursery too, with visits to the local library, train station and park helping them explore and become familiar with the community around them.
Each room at Pepys Road is arranged around the needs of children at different ages and stages, creating nurturing spaces where they can explore, play and learn.
Baby Room: A calm, cosy space for our youngest children, with age-appropriate resources and comfortable areas for play, rest and exploration.
Toddler Room: A space designed for growing curiosity and independence, with opportunities to develop communication, physical skills and confidence through play.
Preschool Room: Purposeful play and learning help older children develop confidence, independence and early skills they can draw on as they prepare for school.
Children move into their next room when they are developmentally and emotionally ready. Our team work across the nursery, helping children remain surrounded by familiar faces as they become comfortable with a new space, routines and resources.
Outdoor space
We have two gardens at Pepys Road, each offering different opportunities for outdoor play and learning. The rear garden provides physical challenges for our older children, while the newly created front garden gives children under two a more sheltered outdoor space designed around their needs.
The front garden also includes a growing area used as part of our Sow and Grow programme across the nursery. Children can get involved in planting, watering and harvesting, giving them hands-on opportunities to notice changes, care for plants and explore where food comes from.
Across both gardens, children have space to be active, play alongside others, investigate and solve problems while becoming familiar with the natural world around them.
Children at Pepys Road benefit from familiar faces and consistent relationships as they move through the nursery. Many of our team have known children since they were babies, helping to provide continuity of care as they grow and move into new rooms.
For older children, our qualified teachers support personal, social and emotional development alongside their wider learning, helping them build confidence and independence as they prepare for the transition to school.
Our curriculum at Pepys Road is centred around each child, drawing on the Curiosity Approach and Hygge Methodology to create a calm, homely environment where natural resources and open-ended experiences encourage children to explore, investigate and follow their interests.
Our bespoke education programmes complement this approach, giving children further opportunities to be creative, ask questions, try new things and develop growing confidence and independence.
At Pepys Road, we create calm, homely spaces where children can become comfortable and familiar with their surroundings at their own pace.
Drawing on the Curiosity Approach and Hygge Methodology, our rooms use natural resources and thoughtfully arranged, uncluttered spaces to encourage children to explore, concentrate and follow their interests. With time and space to investigate what captures their attention, children have opportunities to develop curiosity, confidence and a growing enjoyment of learning.
Having brothers and sisters at Pepys Road can make nursery life simpler for families, with one drop-off and one nursery team to get to know. Our two gardens are designed around different ages, with a sheltered front garden for children under two and a rear garden offering more physical challenge for older children.
While siblings enjoy spaces and experiences suited to their own age and stage, being in the same nursery gives them opportunities to remain connected throughout their nursery day. Sibling places are subject to availability, so we encourage families to speak to us early about the options for both children.
Nursery Manager Sumudu leads the team at Dicky Birds Pepys Road, bringing her Early Years experience to the care and education children receive throughout the nursery.
She is supported by an experienced, long-standing team who get to know children and their families well. These familiar relationships help our team understand each child’s routines, interests and individual needs, so they can provide consistent, personalised care and support as children grow.
