Welcome to Dicky Birds Day Nursery Queens Road Wimbledon. We welcome children from 0 to 5 years and are open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm.
Our Wimbledon nursery is just a five-minute walk from Wimbledon station, with convenient transport links for families travelling across the surrounding area.
Inside, each of our nursery rooms is named after a bird, giving the different spaces their own identity as children move through the nursery.
Children’s wellbeing is considered throughout nursery life at Queens Road. Yoga and mindfulness sessions give children opportunities to explore movement, balance and simple ways to relax, while our regulation room provides a dedicated sensory space where children of all ages can spend time when they need a calmer environment.
Our growing garden brings another dimension to wellbeing, giving children hands-on experience of planting, caring for and harvesting vegetables and herbs. These experiences help children explore where food comes from and introduce conversations about nutritious food and healthy choices.
Families can stay connected with their child’s nursery day through the GrandirUK App, with regular updates on their experiences and progress. We also hold parent evenings each term, alongside seasonal family events that give families opportunities to spend time together, meet our team and connect with the wider nursery community.
Days at Queens Road are full of opportunities to explore, move and discover. Forest School sessions encourage children to explore the natural world, while PE gives them opportunities to be active and develop physical skills. Yoga introduces movement and simple ways to relax, and Boogie Mites brings music, movement and rhythm into the nursery day.
Regular outings also take children into the local Wimbledon community. Visits to nearby parks provide more opportunities for outdoor play, while trips to the library encourage children to enjoy books and stories. Children also visit local shops, connecting everyday experiences in the community with cooking activities back at nursery.
Our nursery on Queens Road has dedicated rooms for babies, toddlers and preschool children, spread across several floors and designed around the needs of children at different ages and stages. Each room is named after a bird, giving the spaces their own identity as children move through the nursery.
Ducklings: Our baby room, with a cosy reading nook and age-appropriate resources that give babies opportunities to play, explore and discover.
Sparrows: Designed for younger toddlers, with opportunities to develop communication, physical skills and growing independence through play.
Owls: Located on the middle floor, with spaces and experiences that support physical development and give children opportunities to begin developing self-regulation.
Woodpeckers: Our preschool room, where creativity, imagination and independence are encouraged alongside the skills and experiences that help children prepare for school.
Children move into their next room when they are developmentally and emotionally ready, with our team supporting them to become familiar and comfortable with each new space at their own pace. We also have a regulation room used across the nursery, providing a dedicated sensory space where children can spend time when they need a calmer environment.
Outdoor space
We have two gardens at Queens Road, each designed around the needs of different age groups. Younger children can explore age-appropriate outdoor equipment, while older children have opportunities for more physical challenge alongside a mud kitchen and bug hotel to investigate.
Our growing garden gives children hands-on experience of planting and caring for vegetables and herbs throughout the year. They can watch them grow and help with harvesting, giving them opportunities to explore where food comes from and how plants change over time.
Both gardens are a regular part of nursery life, giving children space to be active, explore the natural world and enjoy learning outdoors.
