Welcome to Kensington Place Day Nursery on Pembroke Road, in the heart of South Kensington and close to Kensington High Street. We are open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm.
Kensington station is within walking distance, with several bus stops nearby. Kensington Place Day Nursery is a smaller setting, with three rooms and a courtyard garden. This gives our team opportunities to get to know each child well, including their routines, interests and individual needs.
Every day at Kensington Place Day Nursery has a familiar rhythm, with opportunities for children to be active, creative and take time at their own pace. Our Sensory Room provides a quieter space where children can spend time when they need a calmer environment, while our cosy reading areas give children opportunities to enjoy books, listen to stories and spend time quietly.
We value strong relationships with families and want them to feel involved in nursery life. Throughout the year, we invite families to join us for festivals and special occasions, hold termly Parent Evenings to talk about their child’s progress, and run EYFS workshops and parent socials where families can meet our team and connect with others in the nursery community.
Children at Kensington Place Day Nursery can enjoy cooking, music, creative activities, language sessions and imaginative play throughout the week. Our Splat Room is a dedicated space for messy painting and creative exploration, while Music and Move gives children opportunities to develop coordination, balance and physical skills through movement.
Spanish sessions introduce children to another language through the nursery week, while regular outings take learning beyond the nursery. Children visit local parks, the library and the Transport Museum, giving them opportunities to explore more of South Kensington and the wider community.
Kensington Place Day Nursery has three rooms, each thoughtfully arranged with age-appropriate resources that encourage curiosity, exploration and play. The smaller, intimate spaces allow our team to get to know each child well and provide individual attention throughout the day.
Several spaces have a particular purpose. Our Splat Room is dedicated to messy play, giving children space to paint, create and experiment. The Loose Parts Classroom draws on the Curiosity Approach, with natural and open-ended resources that children can use to invent and develop their own play. The Sensory Room provides a quieter space for children who need time away from the main activity, while our cosy reading areas give children opportunities to enjoy books and develop communication and language skills.
Outdoor space
Our courtyard garden gives children a dedicated space for outdoor play, with bikes, blocks, spades and buckets providing opportunities for physical activity and open-ended exploration. It is also a shared space where children can spend time with friends from other rooms.
Being in central London also gives children opportunities to explore beyond the nursery. Regular outings to nearby green spaces and local attractions extend their experiences into the wider South Kensington community.
Our smaller rooms are an important part of care at Kensington Place Day Nursery, giving our team opportunities to get to know each child well and respond to their individual needs.
With fewer children in each room, our team can give children individual attention and support throughout the day, helping them become familiar with their surroundings, build relationships and explore at their own pace.
Our curriculum at Kensington Place Day Nursery draws on elements of the Curiosity Approach within a warm, Hygge-inspired environment. Natural resources, hands-on experiences and opportunities to explore and discover help children make sense of the world around them through play.
Our team create calm, thoughtfully arranged spaces where children can follow their interests, investigate new ideas and make choices, supporting their growing confidence and independence.
We believe curiosity needs a calm environment where it can grow. Kensington Place Day Nursery is small by design, with three intimate rooms and a Hygge-inspired feel. Our loose parts classroom gives children opportunities to explore natural and open-ended materials, make choices and discover what they can do.
With a smaller setting and plenty of opportunities for hands-on exploration, children can follow their interests, investigate ideas and learn through play, supported by a team who have time to get to know them well.
For families with more than one child, Kensington Place Day Nursery’s smaller setting means siblings can remain part of the same nursery while enjoying spaces suited to their own age and stage. With three rooms and a shared courtyard garden, there are opportunities for brothers and sisters to see each other during the day.
Our smaller team also gets to know children and their families well, helping to provide continuity as siblings grow through the nursery. Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space, we will be happy to explore the options for each child.
Gemma Williams is Nursery Manager at Kensington Place, leading an experienced team who bring strong Early Years knowledge and a child-centred approach to their work. The team encourage children to develop growing independence from an early age, while our SENCo works alongside them and families to provide tailored support for children with additional needs.
