Welcome to Wandsworth Day Nursery on Knightley Walk, in the Riverside Quay area of Wandsworth. We are open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 6:30pm.
Wandsworth Town station and Wandsworth Common are both close by, while nearby Wandsworth Park gives children opportunities for outdoor activities beyond the nursery. With convenient local transport links and a team who take time to get to know each child and family, we aim to make arriving at nursery feel familiar and welcoming.
Children’s wellbeing is supported in many of the everyday moments at Wandsworth. Our qualified nursery chef prepares fresh, balanced meals, while our sensory room offers a quieter space when children need time away from the main activity. Yoga and weekly sports sessions bring regular opportunities for movement, balance and physical activity into the nursery week.
Strong relationships with families are an important part of nursery life too. We invite families to spend time with us through events such as our social evenings, creating opportunities to get to know the team and be part of the nursery community.
The GrandirUK App keeps families connected with regular updates on their child’s progress and care routines, giving them a clearer picture of their experiences throughout the nursery day.
Days at Wandsworth are full of different experiences, from cooking with our in-house chef and science experiments to music, gardening and yoga. Children can also explore Spanish through our Bilingual Beats programme, bringing language and music together as part of their nursery experience.
Children regularly head out into the local community too, visiting Wandsworth Library to choose books and Wandsworth Park for nature walks and outdoor sports. These outings give children opportunities to explore beyond the nursery, discover more about their local area and bring new experiences back into their play and learning.
Our Wandsworth nursery has four spacious, thoughtfully arranged playrooms, each with age-appropriate resources and experiences suited to the children using them.
Children move into their next room when they are developmentally and emotionally ready, rather than on a fixed date. Our team work with families to plan each transition around the individual child and help make the change feel familiar and gradual.
Beyond the playrooms, our arts studio gives children a dedicated space to paint, create and experiment with different materials. Our sensory room offers a quieter environment for sensory experiences and time away from the main activity when children need it.
Our Foundation for the Future Room is another dedicated learning space, where children can take part in cooking with our nursery chef, science experiments, music sessions and gardening.
Outdoor space
Our spacious garden gives children plenty of room to play, move and explore outdoors. A range of play equipment and a mud kitchen provide opportunities for physical activity, messy play and imaginative games.
Spending time outdoors is a regular part of nursery life throughout the year, giving children opportunities to enjoy fresh air, be active and explore in a different environment.
The quality of care at Wandsworth starts with how well we get to know each child. Our team take time to understand their routines, interests, individual needs and stage of development, helping them provide care and experiences that are shaped around the child.
We keep families closely involved too, sharing meaningful updates and working together so there is a consistent approach between nursery and home.
Our curriculum at Wandsworth follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with a balance of purposeful activities and child-led play. Children have opportunities to explore their interests, make choices, learn alongside others and develop growing confidence and independence.
Alongside the EYFS, our own education programmes bring practical experiences into the nursery week, including cooking, science, music and languages. Together, they give children different ways to explore ideas, build skills and enjoy learning through doing.
We believe children flourish when they have the space and freedom to be curious. At Wandsworth, purposeful activities sit alongside child-led play, and a day at nursery can take children from our arts studio and sensory room to the garden and nearby Wandsworth Park.
These different environments give children opportunities to explore their interests, make choices, spend time with others and try things for themselves, supporting growing confidence, social skills and independence at their own pace.
For families with more than one child, having siblings at Wandsworth means one drop-off and pick-up on Knightley Walk. Our four playrooms are close together, so brothers and sisters can each enjoy a space suited to their own age and stage while still having opportunities to spend time together in shared spaces such as the garden.
Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space in the appropriate room, we will always do what we can to find places for brothers and sisters together.
Led by Nursery Manager Melissa, our experienced team bring warmth, Early Years knowledge and a collaborative approach to life at Wandsworth. They take time to get to know each child as an individual, working together to provide consistent care and support throughout their time at nursery.
Our qualified SENCo works with children, families and the wider team to understand individual needs and provide appropriate support. Our nursery chef is part of the team too, preparing fresh meals and getting to know children’s individual dietary needs and preferences.
