Welcome to Clerkenwell Mount Day Nursery on Amwell Street, in the heart of Clerkenwell. We are open every weekday from 7:30am to 6:30pm.
We are within walking distance of King’s Cross, Angel and Farringdon stations, with paid street parking nearby for drop-offs and pick-ups. Our nursery is set within a Grade II listed building, where characterful rooms and original features help create a warm and welcoming environment for children.
Wellbeing at Clerkenwell Mount is supported by having quieter spaces when children need them. Our sensory room provides a calm environment for sensory exploration and relaxation, while free-flow access to the garden gives children opportunities for fresh air, movement and outdoor play throughout the day. Varied, balanced meals provide the nutrition children need as they grow, play and learn.
Building strong relationships with families is an important part of nursery life. The GrandirUK App helps you stay connected with your child’s day and learning journey, including through photos, while events throughout the year give families opportunities to come into the nursery and join in activities. Our lending library encourages shared reading at home, and our donation box provides a simple way for families to give or take items as they need.
Play sits at the centre of each day at Clerkenwell Mount, with playrooms full of high-quality resources that encourage children to explore, imagine and create. Alongside child-led play, our curriculum includes more structured sessions such as Boogie Mites, yoga and language classes.
Children also have regular opportunities to explore the local Clerkenwell community, with outings to nearby parks, libraries and shops.
Clerkenwell Mount is set within a Grade II listed building, formed from two adjoining townhouses. Inside, spacious rooms retain much of the character of the original buildings, with dedicated spaces for each age group designed around their changing needs, interests and development.
Our cosy baby room is on the first floor, with a sensory area and carefully chosen resources that encourage babies to explore through play. On the top floor, our toddler room provides plenty of opportunities to become more independent, develop new skills and follow their growing curiosity.
In our preschool room, experiences become increasingly focused on building the confidence, independence and skills children will draw on as they prepare for school. Across the nursery, children can explore role play, creative activities and a wide range of age-appropriate resources.
We also have a dedicated sensory room, providing a calm space where children can explore different sensory experiences or spend some quieter time.
Children have free-flow access to our garden, giving them regular opportunities to take their play and learning outdoors. There is a mud kitchen, a small gardening area and a range of play equipment, with space to play together, explore nature and get active.
Outdoor play does not have to wait for a particular part of the day. Free-flow access means children can move between indoor and outdoor spaces, giving them more choice over where and how they play.
Childcare has to fit around real working lives. We offer both full and part-time sessions and can often accommodate additional hours at short notice, giving families more flexibility when work commitments or plans change.
Learning at Clerkenwell Mount happens mostly through play, giving children opportunities to explore, experiment and make sense of the world around them. Our experienced team use our thoughtfully designed rooms and garden to build on each child’s interests, supporting their confidence, independence and development in a warm, welcoming environment.
We believe a nursery in the middle of the city should still feel like home. Clerkenwell Mount is set across two converted townhouses, and we have kept that homely scale and character, with a room for each age group and free-flow access to the garden. The familiar, welcoming environment gives children a comfortable base from which to play, explore and grow in confidence.
Children of different ages have their own dedicated rooms at Clerkenwell Mount, but the nursery still feels connected. Siblings have opportunities to see each other during the day and can spend time together in shared spaces such as the garden, helping the nursery feel familiar even when they are in different age groups.
Places for siblings are subject to availability, but our team will always explore the options with families.
Led by Nursery Manager Alicia, our experienced team help make Clerkenwell Mount a warm and welcoming place to play, learn and grow. Children build close, trusting relationships with their key person, helping them feel secure and confident at nursery. Our qualified SENCo works with children, families and the wider team to provide tailored support for children with SEND.
