Welcome to Kiddi Caru Day Nursery, Hitchin on Grove Road near the Park Gate shops. We welcome children from birth to 5 years and are open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm.
Conveniently located for Hitchin town centre and the surrounding residential areas, the nursery also has onsite parking to help make drop-offs and pick-ups easier for families. Our links with the local community extend nursery life beyond our doors, with children regularly getting out to explore nearby parks and natural spaces.
Children’s wellbeing is considered throughout the nursery day at Hitchin. Our on-site chef prepares nutritious meals each day, while yoga sessions give children opportunities for movement, stretching and quieter moments. Our baby sensory room also provides a dedicated space for sensory exploration and a change of pace when children need it.
Through the GrandirUK App, families receive regular updates about their child’s routines, learning, wellbeing and nursery experiences. These updates are complemented by conversations with the team at drop-off and collection, helping families and practitioners share information and stay connected with each child’s day.
By working closely with families, our team can build a fuller understanding of each child’s routines, interests and individual needs, helping to create greater continuity between home and nursery.
Children at Hitchin enjoy a varied mix of experiences, including nature walks, yoga, sports and creative activities, giving them different opportunities to explore, move, create and discover.
Regular outings extend these experiences into the local community, with visits to nearby parks, natural spaces and other places of interest around Hitchin. Getting out and about gives children opportunities to experience different environments, learn about the world around them and interact with people and places beyond the nursery.
Our well-resourced playrooms at Hitchin are thoughtfully arranged with age-appropriate equipment and experiences that reflect children’s interests, wellbeing and stages of development. Children move into their next room when they are developmentally and emotionally ready, rather than simply because they have reached a particular age.
We also have a dedicated baby sensory room, providing a quieter space for sensory exploration and a change of pace when children need it. Onsite parking also helps make drop-offs and collections easier for families.
Outdoor space
Our spacious outdoor area includes natural spaces, a mud kitchen and a variety of play equipment, giving children opportunities for active play, creativity and exploration throughout the year.
Our growing garden is another important part of the outdoor space, where children can plant and care for different plants, observe changes and discover more about how things grow across the seasons.
Quality of care at Hitchin starts with recognising that every child is an individual, developing at their own pace and with their own needs, interests and abilities.
Care and learning go hand in hand throughout the nursery day, with our team observing each child and adapting their support and experiences accordingly. Children are supported to take their next steps when they are developmentally and emotionally ready, rather than simply because they have reached a particular age or stage.
Our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), alongside the Hygge approach, creating opportunities for children to learn through play, exploration and discovery in thoughtfully arranged environments.
Our education programmes add further variety to children’s experiences, with opportunities to explore early language and communication, creativity, problem-solving and emotional development. Together, these experiences support children as they develop the skills they will draw on as they prepare for school.
Our Hygge approach helps shape a thoughtful, unhurried nursery day at Hitchin, with welcoming spaces and experiences that give children time to explore their interests, become absorbed in their play and learn at their own pace.
This approach extends beyond the nursery too, with nearby parks and green spaces around Grove Road giving children opportunities to spend time outdoors, explore nature and discover more about their local surroundings.
For families with more than one child, having siblings at our Hitchin nursery means one drop-off and pick-up, while each child can enjoy the room and experiences suited to their own age and stage.
Brothers and sisters may be based in different rooms, such as Bumblebees and Butterflies, but shared spaces and experiences give them opportunities to see each other and share parts of nursery life.
Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space in the appropriate room, we will always look at the options for welcoming brothers and sisters together. We recommend speaking to the nursery team early about the places you need.
Led by Nursery Manager Sarah, our Hitchin team brings together experienced Early Years professionals, including Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCos), to support children throughout their time at nursery.
Our team take time to understand each child’s individual needs, interests and pace of development, adapting their approach where needed and giving children the time and support to take their next steps when they are ready.
