Kingsmead Day Nursery and Preschool is ideally located on Gordon Road in central Winchester. Our convenient location offers easy access for families, with the nursery just a short walk from the train station. About our Nursery

Curriculum

Our child-centred curriculum is shaped by children’s interests, enabling us to nurture their natural curiosity and love of learning. Drawing inspiration from Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and play-based approaches, we provide a rich mix of experiences including literacy, maths, art, music, drama, and movement, supporting each child’s development, creativity, confidence, and individual learning journey.

Playrooms

Our bright and beautifully designed playrooms are light, airy, and thoughtfully equipped with high-quality, age-appropriate resources that support children’s learning and development at every stage. Babies and toddlers enjoy a spacious, nurturing upstairs environment with sensory-rich activities, while older toddlers and preschool children benefit from an engaging downstairs space that encourages independence, social interaction, and school readiness, with free-flow access to the garden for exploration, creativity, and outdoor learning.

Outdoor Space

We have a lovely outdoor area providing many opportunities for children to learn, play and grow. We have worked hard on our purpose-built garden at Kingsmead Day Nursery and are proud of what it offers our children. Our garden area consists of a bike track, children’s vegetable garden, baby zone, reading nook, mud kitchen, wooden playhouse, pirate ship, construction zone, mark-making areas, theatre zone and an outdoor classroom.

Activities

We offer a variety of engaging activities that support children’s development and creativity. Zoo Lab brings animals into the nursery, providing hands-on learning about the natural world. We also offer dance and drama, tennis sessions, Debutots, Disco Dough, and yoga, creating a well-rounded and enjoyable experience for all children.

Regular Outings

Our nursery loves to explore the local community with regular outings that enrich children’s learning experiences. We enjoy walks by the river, trips to the market, and visits to the local library. Our adventures also include exploring the Winchester City Museum, giving children the chance to learn about history and culture. These outings help to spark curiosity and broaden the children’s understanding of the world around them.
