Our nursery has unique features that furthers our mission in providing excellent education and care to our children and families. Our building is carefully laid out for optimal free flow and access for our children. Our large and well-resourced playrooms are much-loved by our children and families!

Curriculum

Our Curriculum is unique and tailored to each child, focusing on nurturing confident communicators, independent learners, and building meaningful friendships. Inspired by the Curiosity Approach, we create a calm, engaging environment filled with natural resources to spark curiosity, creativity, and independent thinking. Supporting each child’s holistic growth is at the heart of everything we do.

Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool in Torquay follows a comprehensive curriculum which includes our unique education programmes, Sow and Grow, Make and Bake, Health and Self, Innovate and Investigate, and Move and Grove.

Team

Our dedicated team includes longstanding staff members whose passion and experience shine through in every aspect of our nursery – from our engaging education programmes to the thoughtfully designed play spaces and activities. The passion and dedication of our staff is seen every day helping children feel secure and cared for.

Our qualified SENCo holds a Level 3 qualification, ensuring tailored support for children with additional needs. Experienced staff mentor and train new team members, maintaining the highest standards of care and education.

We are committed to continuous professional development, supporting apprentices and offering leadership training to nurture future Early Years professionals.

Parent Partnership

Our nursery app keeps parents connected with their child’s learning journey, providing real-time updates, photos, and key milestones.

We believe in strong parent partnerships and supporting learning beyond the nursery. To encourage this, we offer a lending library where children can borrow books to enjoy at home and home learning bags filled with activities and resources to reinforce skills and knowledge in a fun, hands-on way.

Facilities

The layout of our building and the space provided allows us to present a unique offering to families. We have spacious rooms throughout the building and a large garden.

Playrooms

Our room transitions are guided by each child’s development, working closely with parents to ensure the best timing for their move.

Sandcastles: Our cosy baby room, located downstairs, provides a nurturing environment with access to a baby-safe garden and a sensory room, creating a calming space for exploration.

Buckets and Spades, and Seagulls: These two rooms cater to older babies and young toddlers, both located downstairs. Having separate spaces for the same age group allows us to personalise learning experiences based on individual needs, interests, and developmental stages.

Pebbles (downstairs) and Seashells (upstairs): Our well-equipped toddler rooms encourage curiosity and exploration while supporting each child’s unique needs. These spaces provide a nurturing environment that builds confidence and independence, helping children prepare for their transition to our preschool room.

Lighthouse: Our spacious preschool room, located upstairs, supports older children in developing independence, confidence, and school readiness through engaging and meaningful learning experiences.

Garden

We have a large, secluded and private garden space. We have a dedicated baby garden as well as one just for under 2’s, which will be revamped before Spring 2025. We have a well-loved yurt which is used for lessons, yoga sessions and Boogie Mites. There are mud kitchens throughout the garden. We have three allotments which the children help tend for and are a part of the process of growing fruit and vegetables from start to finish.

Activities

We host a variety of exciting activities to aid in each child’s development and learning! We offer Sing and Sign, Boogie Mites, Mini Mites, yoga, cooking, as well as incorporating our unique education programmes.
