Feeling secure is an important part of life at Kiddi Caru Day Nursery Sowton, with a warm, home-from-home environment and familiar spaces for children to settle into. Nutritious meals are freshly prepared each day in our nursery kitchen by our chef, while our sensory room provides a quieter space for sensory activities or time away from the main activity.
Open communication with families is important to us too. The GrandirUK App keeps families updated on their child’s day, routines, activities and key moments, while regular stay-and-play sessions and family events provide opportunities to be involved in nursery life.
Keeping communication open between home and nursery helps us understand each child’s experiences and share information about their care, learning and development.
Each week at Kiddi Caru Day Nursery Sowton is filled with Boogie Mites, Sing and Sign, Make and Bake and Sow and Grow, giving children opportunities to explore music, communication, creativity and practical skills through hands-on experiences.
We also enjoy getting out into the local community. Regular visits to the nearby care home give children opportunities to meet different generations through shared activities, storytelling and creative sessions, helping them develop social skills and an understanding of the wider community.
Kiddi Caru Day Nursery Sowton has eight bright, spacious rooms, each designed around a different age and stage of development. Every room is thoughtfully arranged with age-appropriate resources, cosy spaces, creative areas and opportunities for imaginative play and group activities.
Sunflower, Primrose and Sweetpea: Engaging spaces designed around the needs and interests of younger toddlers.
Bracken and Fern: Rooms for older toddlers, with opportunities to develop growing independence and confidence.
Willow and Oak: Our preschool rooms, with purposeful activities that support communication, problem-solving and early learning as children prepare for school.
Our sensory room is available to children across the nursery, providing opportunities for sensory play as well as a quieter space when children need some time away from the main activity.
Outdoor space
Our three gardens are designed around different ages and stages. The baby sensory garden offers gentle, age-appropriate features that give our youngest children opportunities to explore and discover.
The toddlers’ garden provides more opportunities for physical challenge and exploration, while our main garden gives older children a spacious setting for active play, imaginative games and outdoor learning, with play equipment and natural features to investigate.
Kiddi Caru Day Nursery Sowton combines the breadth of a large nursery with a personal approach to care. Our smaller, tailored rooms are designed around the needs of each age and stage, giving children familiar spaces where they can explore, develop independence and build close relationships with the team caring for them.
Our team take time to know each child well, responding to their interests, routines and individual needs throughout the day. It means children can benefit from the opportunities and resources of a larger nursery while still receiving individual attention and care that feels personal to them.
At Kiddi Caru Day Nursery Sowton, our curriculum is rooted in the Early Years Foundation Stage and draws on elements of the Curiosity Approach and Reggio Emilia principles. Children are encouraged to explore, question and discover through child-led play and purposeful experiences, with opportunities to follow their interests at their own pace.
From imaginative play to outdoor learning, our approach gives children opportunities to develop confidence, independence and a growing understanding of the world around them as they move towards their next stage.
We believe children are natural thinkers, with their own ideas, questions and theories about the world around them. At Kiddi Caru Day Nursery Sowton, our curriculum draws on elements of the Curiosity Approach and Reggio Emilia principles, giving children opportunities to explore their ideas, ask questions and investigate where their curiosity leads.
Our eight smaller rooms create a more personal experience within a larger nursery, with spaces designed around different ages and stages. Children can benefit from the breadth of experiences and resources available at a larger setting while still having familiar spaces and a team who know them well.
For families with more than one child, our eight smaller rooms give siblings spaces suited to their own age and stage while remaining part of the same nursery. With three gardens across the setting, there are also opportunities for brothers and sisters to see each other during the day.
Having both children at the nursery also means one drop-off and pick-up at Exeter Business Park, with one familiar team getting to know the children and their family. Sibling places are subject to availability, so we encourage families to speak to us early about the options for each child.
