Curriculum

Our curriculum centres around the Hygge Approach, allowing children learn at their own pace and participating in heuristic play to offer children different learning opportunities and develop their own interests in a calm and stress free environment.

Kiddi Caru Rushden also follows our unique education programmes which includes key topics such as Health and Self, Innovate and Investigate, Move and Groove, Make and Bake, and Sow and Grow.

Team

Our amazing nursery is filled with a dedicated team of long standing staff, many of whom have been with us up to 18 years. All our full time staff are highly qualified nursery practitioners with in depth knowledge of the childcare sector.

Our offering also includes a SENCo practitioner to make sure each and every child is getting the same quality of care at our nursery.

As our team includes many staff members that come from a teaching background, we also have a school readiness programme with our children and families to help everyone to transition to their school journey.

Parent Partnership

Our nursery families view our nursery and staff as extended family! We pride ourselves in our strong bonds with both our children and their parents.

Our nursery app makes our families feel supported as they keep up to date on their child’s routine and activities throughout the day.

Our team love to welcome all our families, not just the children. Staff members hold monthly meetings so families have the opportunity to see how their child is developing and ask any questions about nursery life. They also hold regular events for all family members such as tea and cake sessions.

As part of our Hygge approach, we are passionate about recycling and reducing waste. We offer any spare meals to families at the end of the day and have an accessible ‘Swap Section’ where families can donate clothing, toys and books to other members of the nursery to promote recycling and help reduce shopping costs.

Our Facilities

The nursery uses lamps instead of overhead lighting to create a low-lit atmosphere and add plants in every room to create a cosy setting that embodies the Hygge approach.

This provides a softer approach to childcare, allowing children to explore their interests and learn in a homely space to truly help them develop.

Playrooms

Olive Room: On our ground floor, we provide a stimulating environment for our younger babies. With access to an Astroturf garden, the children can explore their own interests at their own pace both indoors and outdoors.

Hazel Room: Also located on our ground floor, our Hazel room for older babies allows for open ended learning that is centred around wellbeing with free flow access to the garden space.

Juniper Room: Our Juniper room, for our toddler ages, can be found on our first floor with private entrance for our families to provide a safe environment that still embodies our ethos of slowing down and prioritising the here and now.

Elm Room: Our Elm room is for our preschool children and centres around a wide variety of activities in a stimulating environment that centres around our Hygge approach. With easy access to the garden and regular outings, the children have access to outdoor activities every day.

Garden

The garden space is excellent for facilitating outdoor play and open ended learning opportunities. With our appropriately named ‘Hobbit House’, mud kitchen and more, the children have plenty of choice of activities to facilitate their own play and explore new interests at their own pace.

The nursery also have their own herb garden where children can plant and look after their own herbs which are used in the nursery kitchen and a compost heap to recycle their food waste to help teach the children the nature cycle of food.

Activities

The nursery has a wide variety of activities included in their setting. Boogie Mites, Sing and Sign and Forest School sessions are available to all preschool children to support creative exploration through movement and within nature.

Community Outings

The nursery holds weekly outings within the local community such as the local park, forest school sessions at a local forest, library and more.
