Kiddi Caru Day Nursery, Walnut Tree, Milton Keynes

Our on-site kitchen is where a lot of wellbeing starts. Our chef prepares fresh, nutritious meals every day to support a balanced diet and healthy development, and with three gardens and everything on one level, children can move between quiet indoor spaces and active outdoor play whenever they need to.

Families receive daily updates, photos and milestones through our GrandirUK app, and our lending library encourages reading together at home. New families are given a warm first-day welcome pack, and we host stay and play sessions, open days, community events and celebrations through the year that give our nursery a real sense of belonging.

Children at Walnut Tree enjoy Boogie Mites, Sing and Sign, Make and Bake, and Sow and Grow as part of everyday nursery life. We also love getting out into the community, with walks around Walnut Tree, visits to nearby green spaces and regular trips to our partner care home, where children share drawings and cakes with residents and learn a good deal about empathy.

Our Walnut Tree nursery is thoughtfully designed on one level, with five spacious playrooms, three gardens and an on-site kitchen. The single-storey layout means children move freely and confidently between spaces rather than negotiating stairs.

Children move up when they are ready, not when a date says so, which keeps each transition smooth and well supported.

Outdoor space

Our three garden areas are each designed for a different age group. Babies have a safe astro-turf space of their own, and toddlers have a dedicated side garden with resources pitched to them.

Older children explore our large main garden, with free-flow access to a mud kitchen, natural play areas and plenty of room for physical play. Being able to come and go between indoors and out means children choose the kind of play they need at that moment.

Trust is what children need before anything else, and the key person approach is how we build it. A familiar adult who knows a child’s routines, preferences and moods helps that child grow in self-esteem and feel secure enough to make the most of their day.

Our curriculum at Walnut Tree blends the Curiosity Approach, Hygge principles and our own education programmes. Children explore natural resources and learn through play, nurturing social skills, communication, physical development and early literacy ready for primary school.

We believe a calm, cosy setting is what makes children brave enough to try things. At our Walnut Tree nursery, Hygge principles and the Curiosity Approach shape rooms filled with natural resources, all laid out on one level so children choose where to go next. Following their own interests is how they build confidence and real independence here.

Because our Walnut Tree nursery is all on one level, dropping two children off takes one walk rather than two. Brothers and sisters have their own age-appropriate room but share the three gardens, so they still catch sight of each other during the day. Where availability allows, we will always do our best to keep families together.

Wendy, our Nursery Manager, heads a diverse, welcoming team at Kiddi Caru Walnut Tree, with a dedicated on-site SENCO and a multicultural staff group that helps every family feel at home. Each room is led by educators who understand the key person approach and take genuine pleasure in celebrating what children achieve.
