Kiddi Caru Day Nursery, Leighton Buzzard is based at Briggington House on Hockliffe Road, welcoming children from birth to 5 years. We’re open Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 6:00pm.
Close to Leighton Buzzard town centre, surrounding housing developments and Junction 11A of the M1, we’re well placed for local families and commuters. Children have our on-site Forest School area to enjoy, making outdoor exploration and time in nature a regular part of nursery life.
Children’s wellbeing is supported throughout the nursery day through nutritious meals, time outdoors and opportunities for quieter moments. Our on-site chef prepares fresh meals each day and caters for allergies and individual dietary requirements, while the garden includes a hammock and cosy reading shed where children can enjoy a change of pace.
Through the GrandirUK App, families receive updates about their child’s routines, activities, progress and milestones, helping them stay connected with nursery life.
Families are also invited to take part in stay and play sessions, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Grandparents’ Day events, as well as graduation celebrations for children preparing to start school. Our family forums provide another opportunity to meet with the Nursery Manager, share feedback and contribute ideas about nursery life.
Children at Leighton Buzzard enjoy a varied mix of experiences, including Boogie Mites, arts and crafts, sensory play and outdoor exploration. Babies under two also take part in Sing and Sign, giving them opportunities to explore early communication through signs, songs and music.
Regular outings take children into the local community, with walks to nearby shops, the pet store and around the local area. Weekly visits to Leighton Rose Care Home also bring children and residents together, creating opportunities for different generations to spend time together and build connections.
Our spacious nursery at Briggington House has five age-specific playrooms, with environments and resources designed to reflect the different stages of children’s development.
Two of our playrooms have free-flow access to the outdoors, giving children in these rooms opportunities to move between indoor and outdoor experiences as part of their nursery day.
Outdoor space
Our large garden gives children plenty of opportunities for active play, exploration and hands-on experiences inspired by Forest School. Children can plant seeds, build bug hotels, climb and take part in creative outdoor projects, encouraging them to investigate, solve problems and work alongside others.
There are also spaces for quieter moments, including a hammock and a cosy reading shed where children can spend time with a book.
Our Eco-Schools accreditation with distinction is reflected in everyday nursery life, with children involved in activities including food recycling, composting and paper recycling. These practical experiences introduce children to caring for their environment as part of their daily routines.
Quality of care starts with knowing each child as an individual. Our consistent team of practitioners take time to understand children’s routines, interests and individual needs, helping to provide continuity throughout their time at nursery.
Ongoing training and professional development also help our team keep their knowledge and practice up to date, with children’s safety, wellbeing and individual needs at the heart of the care we provide.
Our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), combining learning through play with the Curiosity Approach, Planning in the Moment, Hygge and loose-parts play. Together, these approaches give children opportunities to follow their interests, make choices and explore through open-ended experiences.
Regular Forest School sessions extend learning into the natural environment, while our education programmes introduce children to a varied range of experiences across the nursery day. This creates a flexible approach to learning that can respond to children’s individual interests and stages of development.
Outdoor learning is an important part of nursery life at Leighton Buzzard. Our Forest School area at Briggington House is used several times a week, giving children regular opportunities to explore the natural environment, make choices and learn through hands-on experiences.
Indoors, the Curiosity Approach, Planning in the Moment, Hygge and loose-parts play help shape an environment where children can follow their interests, investigate ideas and learn through exploration. Across both indoor and outdoor experiences, children are encouraged to make choices, test their ideas and try different approaches.
For families with more than one child, having siblings at Briggington House means one drop-off and pick-up, while each child can enjoy the playroom and experiences suited to their own age and stage.
Our shared garden and Forest School area give brothers and sisters opportunities to see each other and share parts of their nursery day, even when they are based in different rooms.
Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space in the appropriate room, we will always look at the options for welcoming brothers and sisters together.
Led by Nursery Manager Hollie, our Leighton Buzzard team includes many practitioners who have been part of the nursery for several years, bringing continuity and familiar faces for children and families.
More than 80% of our team are trained in paediatric first aid, and the nursery holds Millie’s Mark. Our SENCo-qualified practitioners also work closely with families to understand each child’s individual needs and consider how best to support them throughout their time at nursery.
