Ronnee
Nursery Manager
Silks Farm Day Nursery and Preschool offers a warm and nurturing setting where children are at the heart of everything we do. Situated on a unique 7-acre site, we are passionate about outdoor exploration and creating meaningful connections between nature, life, and learning.
Housed within a beautifully converted farm building, our nursery combines rustic charm with spacious, open-plan environments with bright playrooms, create a welcoming and secure space where children can feel confident, valued, and inspired throughout their learning journey.
Our exceptional surroundings provide endless opportunities to spark curiosity, build confidence, and develop essential skills through play, discovery, and exploration. From our extensive outdoor areas and Forest School sessions to our engaging indoor learning environments, every experience is carefully designed to support children’s development and wellbeing.
Our location
Set in rural Cambridgeshire, we are located in between Somersham village and St Ives retail park, down the road from Cuckoobridge farm shop. We are also easily accessible by car with ample parking.
About our Nursery
Curriculum
We combine Forest School sessions with the Reggio Emilia approach, creating a rich learning environment where children are encouraged to learn through play, develop independence, and build a strong connection with nature. Alongside our focus on outdoor exploration and child-led learning, we follow a comprehensive curriculum supported by our core educational programmes.

Team
Our dedicated nursery team brings a wealth of experience, with many staff members having been part of Silks Farm for several years. Their knowledge, consistency, and passion help create a warm and nurturing environment where children can flourish. We are proud to have Level 3 qualified SENCOs within the team and we actively support the development of students and apprentices. Our in-house chef prepares nutritious, home-cooked meals that are loved by all. Our dedicated team do an amazing job and are here for children, families and each other.
Parent Partnership
We work closely with families to ensure that children’s interests are taken into consideration. We upload regular updates on our nursery app to ensure parents are well informed on what their children are up to at nursery and any relevant upcoming events. We host open mornings for current and new families and have Christmas craft stay and play sessions which is well attended and enjoyed.
Playrooms
Our playrooms are designed to give children space, resources, and inspiration to develop learning and spark creativity. Robins is our babies and toddlers room, featuring a milk kitchen and direct access for the older children to their own garden. Hedgehogs, for our toddlers includes access to the garden and Paddock area, a dedicated sensory room, direct access to the over-2s garden, and a fully equipped bathroom area ideal for potty training. Rabbit is our preschool room and is our largest space, with plenty of room to explore and learn, with direct access to the over-2s garden.
Outdoor Space
We are set within beautiful grounds with views across Fenland farmland, offering a variety of outdoor play opportunities and learning spaces that support exploration, creativity, and development. These include a paddock with natural play and den-building areas, an over-2s garden with construction, sand and water play, a mini woodland with mud kitchen and sow-and-grow space plus a Forest Trail with fruit trees, muddy play, and seasonal fruit picking.

Activities
From planting flowers to painting sessions, we try to incorporate as many activities into the day as we can. Creating a space where children can explore their creativity is one of our main goals.
Community Outings
Due to our remote and secluded location in nature, we do not take any community outings. However we love inviting the outside would in with visitors like the Zoo lab, fire trucks and more! Our children have great fun when we get visitors and love learning about new things. With so much land to ourselves, there is little need to venture outside.
