Curriculum

At Little Monkeys Day Nursery in Horsham, we embrace the Curiosity Approach, focusing on child-led, interest-based learning that happens in the moment.

We also follow our bespoke Educational Programmes, Pathways to Foundations and Foundations to the Future, ensuring each child’s journey is thoughtfully guided and enriched.

Team

Our highly qualified and experienced management team has been with the nursery for nearly 15 years, including a Qualified Teacher and an Early Years Teacher. Together, they lead our passionate, dedicated staff who are committed to providing outstanding care and education for every child.

Our team includes designated safeguarding leads, Mental Health First Aiders, and SENCOs, ensuring that we can support children’s diverse needs in a safe and nurturing environment. The variety of skills and experiences within our team helps create a well-rounded, positive atmosphere where children feel secure, valued, and encouraged to thrive.

Each member of our highly trained team is dedicated to encouraging curiosity, creativity, and discovery in every child, going above and beyond in everything they do.

Parent Partnership

We believe in building strong partnerships with our families to enhance their child’s nursery experience.

Through our nursery app, parents receive regular updates on their child’s time at nursery, ensuring they feel connected and informed.

We also offer a lending library with a selection of books at Reception for children to borrow and enjoy at home.

Our ‘stay and play’ sessions provide a wonderful opportunity for parents to settle into the nursery environment.

We host special special events throughout the year, including tea for Mother’s and Father’s Day, festive celebrations, and professional photos for graduations, creating a wonderful sense of community.

We also hold parents’ evenings twice a year, giving families a chance to discuss their child’s progress and engage with our dedicated early years education team.

Facilities

Our recently refurbished nursery is light, bright, and modern, featuring high-quality resources that keep children engaged and support their learning as they grow.

A highlight of our facility is the purpose-built role play stage, where children can be creative and express themselves through music and movement. We also feature a dedicated well-being room, equipped with various resources such as yoga mats and a cosy quiet den for relaxation.

Additionally, our sensory room offers a unique environment for sensory exploration. Families are welcomed by our management team and admin staff upon entering through the Rex House building, ensuring a warm and friendly atmosphere right from the start.

Classes

At our nursery, we prioritise each child’s unique development, allowing them to transition between rooms based on their readiness rather than age, ensuring they receive the support and challenges they need to thrive.

Bush Babies: Welcoming our youngest children from 3 months, this nurturing environment helps our youngest explorers settle in and develop their early skills.

Cheeky Chimps: For our younger toddlers, this room is located upstairs, and encourages curiosity and playful learning as they embark on new adventures.

Groovy Gorillas: Catering to our older toddlers to preschool children, this classroom fosters independence and creativity as they prepare for the next stage of their learning journey.

Amazing Apes: Our preschool class for children turning 4 from September, located upstairs, focuses on preparing them for school with engaging activities that build confidence and readiness.

Our rooms are thoughtfully arranged across two buildings next door to each other, providing a safe and stimulating environment for all ages.

Outdoor Space

At our day nursery, our incredible garden features a safe, secure area with astro-turf and exciting play equipment.

Our cosy garden is the perfect space for some outdoor fun, we also enjoy going out on daily walks in the community, allowing each child to explore and discover the world around them.

Activities

At our nursery, we offer a variety of exciting activities to inspire and educate our children. ProTots visits weekly to work with our preschoolers, providing fun and enriching experiences.

We explore creativity through art and baking, and our singing sessions bring joy to learning. A highlight of our year is the annual hatching of chicks during Easter, allowing the children to learn about life cycles first hand.

Through these activities, we create the perfect setting to inspire curiosity and a love for learning in a nurturing environment.

Community Outings

Located near Horsham Park and the Town Centre, our nursery takes full advantage of its central position by organising daily walks for the children, both in the morning and afternoon.

These regular outings allow the children to explore local places of interest, creating amazing community relationships and wonderful adventure.

Trips to the library and Jasmine Court are highlights of our schedule, providing enriching experiences that enhance their learning and help them connect with the world around them.

Our outings not only promote physical activity but also encourage curiosity and social interaction among the children.
