Welcome to Dicky Birds Day Nursery Maple Road. We welcome children from 0 to 5 years and are open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm.
Our Surbiton nursery is within walking distance of Surbiton station and close to local shops, schools and green spaces, making it well placed for families travelling as part of their daily commute.
Claremont Hall is a spacious building with a warm, homely feel, creating a welcoming environment where children can become comfortable and familiar with nursery life at their own pace.
Fresh, nutritious food and time outdoors are an important part of everyday nursery life at Maple Road. Our on-site chef prepares fresh meals using menus designed with children’s nutritional needs in mind, while relaxed, sociable mealtimes give children opportunities to develop independence and positive routines.
Families can keep up with their child’s day, activities and development through regular updates on the GrandirUK App. We also hold parent evenings and family events throughout the year, creating opportunities for families and our team to spend time together and build relationships beyond the everyday nursery routine.
Families are encouraged to get involved in nursery life, helping to create a welcoming and connected community at Claremont Hall.
Children at Maple Road enjoy a varied mix of experiences throughout the week, including Forest School, PE, yoga, Boogie Mites and creative play.
Regular outings also take children beyond the nursery and into the local Surbiton community, with visits to parks, shops and community spaces. These everyday experiences give children opportunities to become familiar with their neighbourhood, explore the world around them and develop confidence in different environments.
Our nursery is set within Claremont Hall, a spacious and welcoming building with dedicated spaces designed around each stage of children’s development. Rooms are thoughtfully arranged with resources children can reach and choose for themselves, giving them opportunities to explore, make choices and develop independence.
Children move into their next room when they are developmentally and emotionally ready, rather than simply reaching a particular age. This gives each child time to become comfortable and confident before taking their next step.
Outdoor space
We have two garden areas at Maple Road, giving children plenty of space for active play, sport and exploring the natural world. One is home to our growing garden, where children can plant, water and harvest through the seasons, helping them discover more about how food grows and where it comes from.
Outdoor play is part of nursery life throughout the year, giving children regular opportunities to move, explore and experience the changing seasons. Time outside also supports physical development, wellbeing and growing confidence.
Consistent, individual care is at the heart of nursery life at Maple Road. Our team take time to understand each child’s routines, preferences and individual needs, helping to provide familiar care throughout their day.
We work closely with families too, keeping them involved in their child’s nursery experience through open, regular communication. By sharing what we know about each child, we can work together to provide greater consistency between home and nursery.
Our curriculum at Maple Road is centred around each child, bringing together creative play, purposeful activities and experiences that connect learning with everyday life.
Children have opportunities for both guided learning and independent exploration, supporting the development of communication, social skills and growing independence. As they progress through the nursery, we help them build skills and confidence they can draw on as they prepare for school.
At Maple Road, we want children to feel comfortable and secure as they explore, play and try new things. Claremont Hall combines spacious rooms with a warm, homely feel, giving children plenty of opportunities for both guided learning and independent exploration, indoors and outdoors.
Children are encouraged to make choices, follow their interests and take the lead in their play, with experiences that support communication, social skills, independence and growing confidence.
Having brothers and sisters at Maple Road can make nursery life simpler for families, with one journey to Claremont Hall and one team to get to know. Each child has a space designed around their own age and stage, while our two gardens give siblings opportunities to spend time in the same outdoor spaces.
Being part of the same nursery means brothers and sisters can remain close while enjoying their own experiences and routines. Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space, our team will be happy to explore the options with families.
Jana brings experience across two roles at Dicky Birds Maple Road, as our Nursery Manager and Regional Support Manager. She leads an experienced, long-standing team, giving children the reassurance of familiar faces and consistent relationships throughout their time at nursery.
Our qualified SENCo works closely with the wider team and families to understand each child’s individual needs and provide appropriate support, helping every child to take part fully in nursery life.
