Welcome to First Place Radlett, a GrandirUK Day Nursery located at Centurion House on Watling Street in Hertfordshire. We welcome children from 3 months through to preschool age and are open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm.
Our Radlett nursery is conveniently located for families living or working locally, as well as those travelling from surrounding areas.
Inside, welcoming playrooms, a dedicated library and a large hall provide a varied environment for children’s play and learning, complemented by outdoor spaces and regular opportunities to explore the local community.
Children’s wellbeing is considered throughout the nursery day at First Place Radlett. Nutritious, balanced meals form part of children’s daily routines, alongside opportunities for active play, outdoor exploration and quieter experiences in our dedicated library.
Working closely with families is an important part of our approach. Through the GrandirUK App, families receive daily updates about their child’s nursery day, including information about naps, meals, activities and development.
Regular communication also gives families and practitioners opportunities to share information, ask questions and work together as children progress through nursery and prepare for their eventual transition to school.
Children at First Place Radlett enjoy a varied mix of activities and experiences, including creative art, imaginative play, sensory experiences, early language games and hands-on activities.
Our GrandirUK education programmes introduce further experiences through Move & Groove, Make & Bake and Sow & Grow, giving children opportunities to move, create, explore food and discover more about the natural world.
Learning also extends beyond the nursery through regular community outings, giving children opportunities to explore Radlett, become familiar with their local surroundings and experience everyday life beyond the nursery.
First Place Radlett has welcoming, well-resourced spaces designed around children’s different ages and stages, alongside a dedicated library and large hall.
Our baby room provides a nurturing environment for our youngest children, with opportunities for sensory play, interaction and early language experiences. Our bright and spacious toddler room introduces further opportunities for imaginative play, creative activities and language games.
Our preschool room provides a varied range of resources and learning areas, with carefully planned experiences as children prepare for their transition to school.
Our dedicated library provides a quieter space for books, stories and early literacy experiences, while our large hall offers additional room for movement-based activities including dance, ball skills and games.
Outdoor space
Our outdoor environment includes an outdoor classroom, mud kitchens, water pumps and discovery tables, providing varied opportunities for hands-on exploration, creativity and outdoor play throughout the year.
Quality of care at First Place Radlett starts with recognising each child as an individual. Our experienced team takes children’s interests and wellbeing into account when planning experiences and supporting their learning and development.
Practitioners work closely together and build relationships with children and their families, creating opportunities to share information and develop an understanding of each child throughout their nursery experience.
By combining individual care with a varied range of learning opportunities, children can explore their interests, become involved in their play and experience new activities at their own pace.
Our curriculum at First Place Radlett follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), supporting children’s learning and development across all seven areas.
Early literacy, language games and hands-on experiences form part of the curriculum, alongside our GrandirUK education programmes including Move & Groove, Make & Bake and Sow & Grow.
For preschool children, carefully planned experiences provide opportunities to practise a range of skills, build on their existing knowledge and prepare for their transition to school.
At First Place Radlett, children’s individual interests play an important part in their nursery experience, with opportunities to explore, investigate and discover through play and hands-on learning.
Our approach combines welcoming indoor environments with varied opportunities for movement, creativity, language, sensory exploration and outdoor discovery.
Regular community outings also take learning beyond the nursery, giving children further opportunities to discover their surroundings and become involved in their local Radlett community.
For families with more than one child, having siblings at First Place Radlett means one drop-off and pick-up at our Watling Street nursery, while each child can enjoy the room, experiences and friendships suited to their own age and stage.
From babies through to preschool, brothers and sisters can be part of the same nursery community while enjoying experiences designed around their individual stages of development.
Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space in the appropriate room, we will always look at the options for welcoming brothers and sisters together.
Led by Nursery Manager Chloe, our experienced Radlett team brings a range of Early Years knowledge and experience to the nursery.
Practitioners work closely together to support children’s care, learning and development, while building positive relationships with families and maintaining regular communication throughout each child’s nursery experience.
By sharing information with families and getting to know children’s individual interests and needs, the team can adapt their approach as children grow and develop.
