Welcome to The Muswell Hill Day Nursery at Tetherdown Hall, in the heart of Muswell Hill just off Fortis Green. We are open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 6:30pm.
East Finchley is our nearest Underground station, with several local primary schools within walking distance. Our purpose-built nursery gives children plenty of space to play, explore and follow their curiosity, while our team take time to get to know each child and their family.
Wellbeing is supported in different ways throughout the nursery day. Our on-site chef prepares fresh, nutritious meals in the nursery kitchen each morning, while our sensory room provides babies with a quieter space for sensory exploration and a change of pace. Outdoors, the garden gives children opportunities to move, play and develop physical skills such as coordination and balance.
Strong partnerships with families are an important part of nursery life too. Celebrations for occasions such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day create opportunities for families to spend time with us, while grab-and-go breakfasts offer something practical for busy mornings.
Our lending library extends this connection beyond the nursery, giving children the opportunity to choose books to take home and enjoy with their families.
Children at Muswell Hill enjoy a varied mix of experiences throughout the week. Our dedicated physical activity room provides space for dance and yoga, while the visual arts studio is used for messy play, painting and crafts. Our cosy library offers a quieter space to enjoy books and stories together.
Regular trips to nearby parks and the local library extend these experiences beyond the nursery, giving children opportunities to explore and become more familiar with their local community.
The Muswell Hill Day Nursery is purpose-built for early years care and education, with four bright, spacious rooms arranged around different ages and stages of development. Children move into their next room when they are developmentally and emotionally ready, rather than following a fixed timetable.
Alongside the main playrooms, children can enjoy several dedicated spaces throughout the week. Our sensory room provides babies with a quieter environment for sensory exploration, while our visual arts studio gives children plenty of space for painting, crafts and messy play. Our library offers a selection of books to enjoy at nursery and borrow to continue sharing stories at home.
Our on-site chef prepares fresh, nutritious meals each day in the nursery kitchen, making mealtimes another thoughtfully considered part of the nursery experience.
Outdoor space
Our garden gives children opportunities to spend time outdoors throughout the year, with space to move, play and explore in the fresh air.
Outdoor experiences provide different opportunities to climb, balance and develop physical skills, while giving children another environment in which to explore their interests and learn through play.
High-quality care at Muswell Hill starts with getting to know each child as an individual. Our team take time to understand what helps them feel comfortable, what captures their interest and where they may need additional support.
By responding to these individual needs throughout the nursery day and keeping families regularly updated, we can work together to provide consistent, personal care as each child develops.
Our curriculum at Muswell Hill follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with a child-led approach that gives children opportunities to explore their interests and make choices about their learning.
By giving children time to investigate what interests them, ask questions and make discoveries at their own pace, we support their curiosity, independence and developing skills, building strong foundations for school and future learning.
Children’s interests can take learning in all sorts of directions. Our child-led approach gives them time and space to explore what captures their curiosity, with our team providing the resources and support to help them take their ideas further.
That might lead to creating in the art studio, discovering a new book in the library or investigating something outdoors in the garden. By following children’s interests and building on them, we create meaningful opportunities to explore, ask questions and make discoveries through play.
For families with more than one child, having siblings at the same nursery means one drop-off and pick-up, while each child can enjoy a room suited to their own age and stage.
With all four rooms within one purpose-built nursery and shared spaces including the garden and library, brothers and sisters have opportunities to see each other and share parts of their nursery day.
Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space in the appropriate rooms, we will always look at the options for welcoming brothers and sisters together.
Led by Nursery Manager Feryal, our experienced team at Muswell Hill take time to get to know each child, building familiar, consistent relationships and understanding their individual needs, interests and personalities.
Our qualified SENCo works closely with children, families and the wider team to provide individual support for children with special educational needs, adapting their approach around each child where needed.
