Welcome to Pippa’s House Day Nursery, set within the grounds of Sandown Park Racecourse on Portsmouth Road in Esher. We are open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 6:30pm, and Nursery Manager Kim and the team will be happy to show you around.
Our location at Sandown Park gives us open green space on the doorstep, while being conveniently placed for families in Esher, Cobham, Hinchley Wood and the wider Surrey area. The setting makes the most of its surroundings, with space indoors and out shaping children’s opportunities to play, explore and learn throughout the day.
Wellbeing at Esher is supported in different ways throughout the nursery day. Our expansive green grounds give children plenty of opportunities to move, explore and spend time in the fresh air, while nutritious mealtimes are part of the daily routine. Indoors, cosy reading areas provide spaces for quieter moments, and our sensory room offers a dedicated space to step away from busier activities and enjoy a change of pace.
Strong partnerships with families are an important part of that approach. Our team shares information openly and works with families to support children through transitions and changes during their time at nursery.
Through the GrandirUK App, families receive updates and messages about their child’s day, including activities, care routines and meals prepared by our on-site chef, helping them stay connected with their child’s nursery experience.
Our educational programmes bring plenty of variety to the week at Esher. Through Move and Groove, children explore music and movement, while Make and Bake gives them hands-on experiences in the kitchen and Sow and Grow introduces them to planting and growing their own vegetables.
Spanish lessons, our splat room and loose parts classroom offer even more opportunities to explore, create and learn through play. Planned outings into the local community extend these experiences beyond the nursery, helping children become more familiar with the world around them.
Pippa’s House Esher is organised into three rooms for different ages and stages, with each space thoughtfully arranged to support children’s learning, development and wellbeing throughout their time with us.
Children move into their next room when they are developmentally and emotionally ready, rather than following a fixed timetable. Small classroom groups also give our team more opportunities to get to know each child and provide individual attention throughout the day.
Cosy reading areas with comfortable seating and a selection of books provide spaces for quieter moments and sharing stories, while our sensory room gives children another dedicated space to step away from busier activities and enjoy a change of pace.
Outdoor space
Outdoor learning is an important part of nursery life at Esher. Our expansive green grounds within Sandown Park give children plenty of space to move, play and explore in the fresh air throughout the year.
Climbing, digging and den-building sit alongside treasure hunts and outdoor storytelling, giving children different opportunities to get active, investigate, solve problems and use their imagination. Our smaller courtyard provides another space to explore, with bikes, blocks, spades and buckets for active and creative play.
Quality care is found in the everyday details. Small classroom groups give our team more opportunities to get to know each child and provide individual attention, while our on-site chef prepares nutritious meals each day.
Familiar team members and consistent routines provide continuity throughout the nursery day, helping children become familiar with the people, spaces and experiences around them as they settle in at their own pace.
Our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with a curiosity-led approach that gives children opportunities to explore, ask questions and make discoveries through play.
Experiences are thoughtfully planned around children’s interests and stages of development, supporting communication, physical development and creativity alongside early literacy and numeracy skills.
Space gives children more opportunities to explore, and at Pippa’s House Esher we have plenty of it. Set in the grounds of Sandown Park, our curiosity-led approach encourages children to ask questions, follow their interests and make discoveries through play.
Our outdoor environment is an important part of that experience. Activities such as den-building and treasure hunts give children opportunities to investigate, make choices, solve problems and keep trying as they explore the world around them.
For families with more than one child, having siblings at the same nursery means one journey and one drop-off and pick-up, while each child can enjoy spaces and experiences suited to their own age and stage.
Our expansive green grounds are shared across the nursery, giving brothers and sisters in different rooms opportunities to see each other and share parts of their nursery day outdoors.
Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space in the appropriate room, we will always look at the options for welcoming brothers and sisters together.
Led by Nursery Manager Kim, our experienced team at Pippa’s House Esher take time to get to know each child, understanding their individual interests, needs and personalities.
By building familiar, consistent relationships, the team can provide individual support throughout each child’s time at nursery, helping them settle in at their own pace and become comfortable in the people and spaces around them.
