Feeling settled and comfortable is an important part of nursery life. Our baby room provides a calm environment, while cosy reading areas give children space to enjoy quieter moments with a book and a familiar adult. Our sensory room offers another dedicated space where children can step away from busier activities and enjoy a change of pace.
Strong communication with families is an important part of our approach. Our team works closely with families to share information and support children through transitions and changes during their time at nursery.
Through the GrandirUK App, families receive regular updates about their child’s day, including activities, care routines and meals, helping them stay connected with their child’s nursery experience.
Children at Claygate enjoy a varied mix of experiences shaped around play, creativity and their interests. Imaginative play and storytime sit alongside activities such as painting, jigsaws, planting seeds and growing plants, giving children plenty of different ways to explore and learn.
Music and movement, Spanish lessons and our loose parts classroom add even more variety, while planned outings into the local community extend children’s experiences beyond the nursery and give them opportunities to interact with the people and places around them.
Our nursery is organised into dedicated playrooms for different ages and stages, each thoughtfully arranged around the needs and interests of the children who spend their time there.
Preschool room: A warm, purposeful space for choice-led learning, early literacy and growing independence through everyday self-care routines.
The toddler room has direct access to the outdoor play area, allowing indoor and outdoor experiences to flow naturally throughout the day. Familiar relationships and routines support children as they move into their next room when they are developmentally and emotionally ready.
Elsewhere in the nursery, our splat room provides a dedicated space for painting and messy play, while the loose parts classroom offers open-ended materials for children to explore, combine and build with. Our sensory room provides another dedicated space where children can step away from busier activities and enjoy a change of pace.
Outdoor space
Our outdoor area provides plenty of opportunities for movement, exploration and active play. Children can climb, balance and explore sand and water, while bikes, blocks, spades and buckets in the courtyard offer different ways to move, create and play.
Time outdoors is an important part of nursery life, with nature-based experiences giving children opportunities to explore their surroundings, develop their physical skills and enjoy learning beyond the playrooms.
Care at Claygate is shaped around each child rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Small classroom groups give our team more opportunities to get to know children individually, understand their needs and provide focused attention throughout the day.
Familiar routines provide consistency, while our in-house chef prepares fresh, nutritious meals each day. Regular communication with families helps us share the important details of each child’s nursery experience.
Our curriculum at Pippa’s House Claygate is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with learning shaped through play, familiar routines and positive relationships.
Children have opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills and grow in confidence at their own pace, supported by a team who take time to get to know them as individuals.
Routine and relationships provide a strong foundation for nursery life at Claygate. Familiar routines help children understand what to expect, while consistent relationships give our team time to get to know each child and support them as they explore.
Play is at the heart of learning here. Through opportunities to make choices, follow their interests and try new things, children can develop their skills, independence and confidence at their own pace.
For families with more than one child, having siblings at the same nursery means one drop-off and pick-up, while each child can enjoy a playroom suited to their own age and stage.
Our toddler room opens directly onto the shared outdoor area, giving brothers and sisters in different rooms opportunities to see each other and share parts of their nursery day outdoors.
Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space in the appropriate room, we will always look at the options for welcoming brothers and sisters together.
Led by Nursery Manager Abby, our team at Pippa’s House Claygate bring a strong understanding of Early Years care and education to their roles. They continue to develop their knowledge and practice through ongoing learning and development.
The team are also happy to answer families’ questions and welcome those considering the nursery for a visit, giving you the opportunity to meet the people who could be caring for your child and find out more about nursery life.
