Children at our Colchester day nursery enjoy a varied mix of activities and experiences, including Sing and Sign sessions, PE classes and new experiences introduced throughout the year.
Sing and Sign provides opportunities to support early communication through songs and signing, while PE sessions encourage children to move their bodies, practise coordination and enjoy being active alongside others.
Experiences also extend into the local community, from walks along the Wivenhoe Trail to spot ducks and explore the natural surroundings, to visits to local shops to choose ingredients for our Make & Bake activities.
Our Colchester nursery has bright, well-resourced playrooms thoughtfully arranged around children’s different ages and stages. Inspired by Hygge principles, our baby and toddler rooms use warm, neutral spaces and natural resources to create an inviting environment for play, exploration and discovery.
Each room has direct access to its own outdoor space, helping to make outdoor experiences a regular part of the nursery day and giving children opportunities to extend their play and exploration beyond the playroom.
We also have a dedicated sensory room, with a range of resources providing opportunities for sensory exploration, quieter experiences and different ways to play and discover.

Quality of care at Kiddi Caru Colchester starts with getting to know each child as an individual. Our practitioners take time to understand children’s routines, interests and individual needs, adapting their approach as each child grows and develops.
Regular communication with families helps provide continuity between home and nursery, while keeping parents and carers informed about their child’s experiences and day-to-day routines.
For children joining the nursery, settling-in sessions provide opportunities to become familiar with the environment, their practitioners and new routines before beginning their nursery journey.
Our curriculum at Kiddi Caru Colchester follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with a Hygge-inspired approach helping to shape children’s experiences across the nursery.
For children aged 2 to 5, GrandirUK’s education programmes introduce a varied range of hands-on experiences, giving children opportunities to explore, create, investigate, make choices and become actively involved in their learning.
Our experienced Early Years team responds to children’s individual interests, needs and stages of development, supporting their learning as they grow and helping them prepare for their eventual transition to school.
At Kiddi Caru Colchester, our Hygge-inspired approach helps create a warm and welcoming environment where children have time and space to explore at their own pace.
Natural resources and warm, neutral spaces encourage children to become absorbed in their play and follow what interests them, with practitioners nearby to observe, support and introduce new opportunities for learning.
Each room also has direct access to its own outdoor space, helping to make outdoor experiences a natural part of the nursery day. Children can take their interests beyond the playroom, with opportunities to explore, investigate and discover in different environments.
For families with more than one child, having siblings at our Colchester nursery means one drop-off and pick-up, with allocated parking helping to make arrivals and collections easier.
Brothers and sisters can enjoy the room, experiences and friendships suited to their own age and stage while remaining part of the same nursery community, with opportunities to see each other and share parts of nursery life.
Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space in the appropriate room, we will always look at the options for welcoming brothers and sisters together.
Led by Nursery Manager Jo, our Kiddi Caru Colchester team takes time to get to know each child as an individual and build strong relationships with their family.
Every child has a key person who provides a consistent point of contact, getting to know their routines, interests and individual needs throughout their nursery experience.
Our SENCo works closely with families and practitioners to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), while our Designated Safeguarding Lead helps ensure safeguarding remains central to our practice.
Open communication with families is an important part of our approach, with practitioners working collaboratively with parents and carers to share information and support continuity between home and nursery.
