With local workplaces and amenities nearby, our central location can help make nursery drop-offs and collections a convenient part of the working day.
Children’s wellbeing is considered throughout the nursery day at Chelmsford, from familiar daily routines to opportunities for movement, quieter experiences and relaxed mealtimes.
Our family-style dining and counter service give children opportunities to make choices, serve themselves and experience a varied range of nutritious foods. Yoga, music and movement sessions and time in our sensory room provide a mix of active and quieter experiences as part of the nursery day.
Families can stay connected with nursery life through the GrandirUK App, with regular updates about their child’s learning, activities and daily routines.
We also welcome families into the nursery through Stay and Play sessions, consultation days, sing-alongs and family events, creating opportunities to spend time with the team, join in with nursery experiences and connect with our wider nursery community.
Children at Kiddi Caru Chelmsford enjoy a varied mix of activities and experiences, including Move & Groove, Sing and Sign, yoga, Make & Bake and music and movement sessions.
These experiences give children opportunities to express themselves through music and movement, explore their creativity and enjoy active play as part of their nursery day.
Regular outings also extend learning beyond the nursery. Children explore their local Chelmsford community through nature walks and bug hunts, trips to gather ingredients for cooking activities and occasional visits to the theatre.
Our Chelmsford nursery has five bright and welcoming playrooms, alongside a dedicated library and sensory room. Each space is thoughtfully designed around children’s different ages and stages, with a varied range of resources for play, exploration and learning.
Children move between rooms when they are developmentally and emotionally ready, rather than simply because they have reached a particular age. From our baby room through to toddler spaces and preschool, transitions are carefully supported by the team as children grow and develop.
Our preschool environment provides a varied range of experiences as children prepare for their transition to school, while resources throughout the nursery encourage creativity, exploration, choice and increasing independence.
Our library provides a dedicated space for books, stories and quieter experiences, while the sensory room is used for sensory exploration as well as activities including yoga and Sing and Sign.
Mealtimes are served family-style, with opportunities for children to serve themselves and make choices at the table. Nutritious meals provide a varied range of food as part of children’s daily nursery routines.
Outdoor space
Our outdoor area gives children regular opportunities to spend time outside, bringing fresh air, movement and exploration into their nursery day. Children can investigate the natural environment, enjoy active play and experience the outdoors throughout the year.
A covered outdoor classroom provides an additional space for learning and exploration outside, giving older children further opportunities to take activities beyond the playroom in different weather conditions.
Quality of care at Kiddi Caru Chelmsford starts with consistency and getting to know each child as an individual. Our practitioners take time to understand children’s routines, interests, preferences and individual needs, helping to provide personalised care throughout their nursery experience.
As children grow and develop, transitions between rooms are based on their individual readiness rather than simply their age. The team carefully supports each transition, sharing their knowledge of the child to help provide continuity as they move into their new environment.
This individual approach means children can progress through the nursery at their own pace, with familiar routines, consistent support and experiences shaped around their changing needs.
Our curriculum at Kiddi Caru Chelmsford follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and is inspired by the Curiosity Approach, loose parts play and Hygge principles.
Children are encouraged to follow their interests, explore different materials and investigate their own ideas, with practitioners nearby to observe, support and introduce new opportunities that extend their learning.
Our GrandirUK education programmes complement the curriculum with a varied range of experiences, alongside music, movement, yoga and sensory exploration. Together, these provide opportunities for children to communicate, create, investigate and become actively involved in their learning.
At Kiddi Caru Chelmsford, we encourage children to make sense of the world around them through exploration, investigation and discovery.
Inspired by the Curiosity Approach, loose parts play and Hygge principles, our rooms are thoughtfully arranged with natural and open-ended resources that encourage children to explore different possibilities, follow their interests and investigate their own ideas.
Alongside these opportunities for discovery, our library and sensory room provide dedicated spaces for quieter experiences, giving children a change of pace within their nursery day.
For families with more than one child, having siblings at our Chelmsford city centre nursery means one drop-off and pick-up, with Chelmsford railway station just a short walk away for those commuting by train.
Brothers and sisters can enjoy the room, experiences and friendships suited to their own age and stage, while remaining part of the same nursery community. Shared spaces including our library, sensory room and outdoor area provide opportunities for siblings to see each other and share parts of nursery life.
Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space in the appropriate room, we will always look at the options for welcoming brothers and sisters together.
Led by Nursery Manager Anna, our Chelmsford team brings a range of Early Years knowledge and experience to the nursery. Practitioners are trained in paediatric first aid and have experience supporting children with a range of developmental and individual needs.
Ongoing professional development gives our practitioners opportunities to continue building their knowledge, skills and Early Years practice throughout their careers with us.
Our SENCo works closely with families and practitioners to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping to ensure individual needs are understood and appropriate support is considered as early as possible.
