Parent Partnerships

We believe that strong partnerships with parents are essential for a child’s development. We actively engage with families through a variety of initiatives, including parents’ evenings, curriculum evenings and stay and play sessions, which keep everyone involved in their child’s learning journey.

Our nursery app provides convenient access to updates, photos, and developmental milestones, making communication easier and more enjoyable.

Special events like Grandparents’ Day create a sense of community, while our stay-and-play sessions allow parents to join in the fun and experience our nurturing environment alongside their children.

Our Facilities

We have created a warm and inviting environments for our children and families at Dicky Birds Claremont Road. Our Classes

Ducklings: Our baby room features areas with age-appropriate resources for the children to actively explore and learn. We have created a cosy and safe space for our youngest learners to grow and thrive. Adjoining the room, there is a separate sleep area, where the children can rest and sleep. This room has free flow access straight into the garden for an easy transition to the outside.

Swans: This room caters for our young toddlers, where the environment lends to inspire and provoke curiosity with engaging activities and accessible resources that promote early independence, sparks their imaginations and gives them the lifelong skills to listen, question and confidently try new things.

Emus: The children in our Emus room, are continuing to develop their independence skills and beginning to learn lifelong skills for learning through open ended questioning and challenging ideas and experiences. This room ensures your child is readily prepared for the transition to school by the end of their journey with us.

Our children transition between classes based on their ability rather than their age, ensuring that each child receives the support and challenges they need to thrive.

Our Outdoor Space

Our outdoor garden is a vibrant and accessible space for all children, including our babies, providing a breath of fresh air and endless learning opportunities in nature. This outdoor space allows children to enjoy the great outdoors and engage in fun activities.

Equipped with canopies, our garden ensures that children can explore and play even during heavy rain.

Here, they can participate in PE sessions, explore the mud kitchen, climb on the wooden climbing frame, and navigate the wooden tunnel and obstacle course.

Our garden also features a cosy reading area, sand and water play, along with large scale mark making opportunities on our chalkboards. At the front of garden the nursery, children have the chance to grow their own vegetables and flowers, fostering a sense of responsibility and care for the environment.

Our Activities

Nursery Activities

We provide a wide variety of engaging nursery activities designed to inspire learning, support development, and ensure every child has plenty of fun!

From Boogie Mites music lessons and Yoga and Mindfulness to Forest School sessions and PE classes, children develop essential skills while staying active and engaged. Make and Bake sessions spark creativity in the kitchen and our Sow and Grow gardening activities, connect children with nature where they can learn about the environment.

These experiences give each child the opportunity to learn, play, and grow alongside other children, helping them to form meaningful connections, building confidence and developing teamwork skills.

Regular outings

At our Surbiton nursery, we believe that regular outings and adventures are vital for creating bright and engaging learning experiences.

Our amazing team organises fun visits to local parks, shops, libraries, and train stations, providing children with exciting opportunities to explore their community and learn about the real world.

Children of all ages from our various rooms are encouraged to join these adventures, creating a sense of connection and belonging in the community.
