Charnwood Day Nursery, Shepshed

A settled child is a happy child, and calm daily routines are what make that possible at Charnwood. Our in-house chef cooks fresh meals every day, and there is always time for active play in the garden alongside quieter moments indoors.

We work closely with families and keep parents informed about their child’s development, daily activities and progress. Our GrandirUK app shares the everyday moments, photos and milestones that help you feel involved in nursery life, wherever your day takes you.

Children at Charnwood enjoy a range of activities that build confidence and follow their interests, including messy play and hands-on time in our growing garden. We are proud to be part of Shepshed, and children regularly head out to explore local parks, churches and community spaces near the nursery.

Our nursery is set in a converted house in the centre of Shepshed, which gives it a cosy, family-like atmosphere. Each room is designed around the needs of a different age group, from babies through to preschool, so children feel confident and supported at every stage. Children move into the next room when they are ready, with our team working closely with families to make each transition feel natural.

Outdoor space

We have a well-equipped outdoor area that is a firm favourite with our children. Children can get stuck into the mud kitchen and mud pit, and help tend the vegetable patch in our growing garden, watching what they plant come up over the seasons. We also have a qualified chef on site, cooking fresh, nutritious meals for the children every day.

Our team genuinely care about the children they look after, building the kind of trusting relationships that help children feel safe, valued and settled. We work closely with families to understand each child’s individual needs and give them a confident start to their early years journey.

Our curriculum is built around learning through play, giving children the space to build confidence, independence and social skills at their own pace. Children explore, ask questions and follow their interests, developing into curious learners who are ready for school and everything that follows.

We believe children learn best when a place feels like home. Our converted house in the heart of Shepshed is warm and unhurried, and children learn here through play rather than pressure: asking questions, following what interests them, and growing into confident learners at their own pace.

Having brothers and sisters in one place makes the morning run far simpler. Our converted house in Shepshed is small enough that siblings cross paths through the day, in the garden or at mealtimes, and where availability allows we will always try to keep families together.

Natasha, our Nursery Manager, leads an experienced team who are proud to support families across Shepshed and the surrounding towns. They take the time to build strong relationships with every child and family, and our qualified SENCo makes sure children with additional needs get the tailored support they deserve.
