Welcome to Kirby Muxloe Day Nursery, a beautifully converted house on Barwell Road, right next to Kirby Muxloe Primary School. We welcome children from 0 to 5 years and are open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 6:00pm.
Being next to the primary school can make drop-offs more convenient for families with children at both settings, while the main park is directly behind the nursery. West of Leicester and surrounded by countryside, Kirby Muxloe is also close to the M1, making the nursery convenient for commuting families.
Familiar routines are an important part of nursery life. Our in-house chef prepares fresh, nutritious meals each day, while yoga sessions give children opportunities for movement, balance and developing physical control. Time outdoors is part of every day, with children regularly using the garden throughout the year.
Keeping families involved in nursery life is important too. Our Stay and Play sessions include seasonal and cultural celebrations throughout the year, including our Christmas-themed evening, giving families opportunities to spend time with us and share in their child’s nursery experience.
Through the GrandirUK App, families receive updates about daily activities, meals and milestones, alongside photos and notes from the team, helping them stay connected with their child’s nursery day.
Boogie Mites gets children moving to music while exploring letters and sounds, while Sing and Sign supports early communication through basic sign language. Yoga gives children opportunities to develop strength, balance and physical control.
Children also have regular opportunities to explore their local community, including walks to the park behind the nursery and visits to the library. These outings give children new places to explore while helping them become familiar with their local area.
Our nursery is a converted house with four playrooms arranged over two floors, each well resourced with age-appropriate resources and activities that support curiosity and respond to children’s individual interests.
Outdoor space
Our large garden offers different spaces for different types of play. Babies and toddlers have a separate garden area suited to their stage, while the large grassy area gives older children space for active play, climbing and physical exploration. The patio provides space for bikes and scooters.
The nursery also has a Forest School area, nature garden and growing space, giving children opportunities to explore and care for the natural world. An outdoor music area adds another way to explore sounds, rhythms and music outside.
Quality of care starts with knowing each child as an individual. Our team take time to understand children’s interests, needs and stage of development, so the support and experiences they receive can be tailored to them.
We work closely with families too, sharing information about each child’s day, learning and development. This helps nursery and home work together and gives families a clear understanding of how their child is getting on.
Our blended curriculum brings together different approaches to support children’s creativity, learning and development. We provide high-quality early years education shaped around each child’s individual needs, with engaging activities, exploratory play and a carefully planned programme of experiences.
Our approach gives children opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills and learn through play, with experiences adapted to their stage of development.
We believe a nursery should feel warm, welcoming and familiar. Our converted house on Barwell Road is arranged over two floors, with small, well-resourced rooms that give children spaces that feel personal and comfortable.
Creativity is an important part of nursery life, with children given opportunities to make, explore and try things for themselves. Our team take time to listen to children’s ideas and interests, supporting them as they develop their skills and growing independence.
For families with more than one child, having siblings at Kirby Muxloe means one drop-off and pick-up, while each child can enjoy a room suited to their own age and stage.
Brothers and sisters share the same converted house and garden, giving them opportunities to see each other and share parts of their nursery day even when they are in different rooms.
Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space in the appropriate rooms, we will always look at the options for welcoming brothers and sisters together.
Led by Nursery Manager Leanne, our long-standing team at Kirby Muxloe includes many members who have been with the nursery for years, with some bringing around two decades of experience here.
The team also includes SENCo-qualified practitioners, bringing specialist knowledge alongside experience supporting children from their earliest months through to preschool.
