Curriculum

We embrace a variety of educational approaches within our nursery curriculum to encourage children’s growth and curiosity. Our program incorporates elements of Forest School, encouraging exploration and learning in nature, alongside the Curiosity Approach, which uses Loose Parts Play to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and independent learning. Touches of Reggio Emilla are also used in our curriculum which is a child centred approach which focuses on a child’s sense of self-worth and agency at the heart of its ideas. Together, these blend of approaches create a nurturing environment that promotes holistic development and a lifelong love of discovery.

Team

Our team includes a selection of long-standing staff members. We pride ourselves on our highly qualified team, which includes Forest School leaders, Level 3 SENCOs, Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), and fully qualified paediatric staff. Our passionate and experienced educators are dedicated to nurturing each child’s growth and development.

Parent Partnership

We believe strong partnerships with families are essential for each child’s development. We maintain open, regular communication through updates, meetings, and events. Our nursery app provides access to daily reports, photos, and developmental milestones to keep families informed and engaged. We also offer a lending library, stay-and-play sessions, open days, and family information evenings.

Facilities

Our facilities are designed to offer a blend of comfort, safety, and natural beauty. Our indoor environments are bright and spacious great for purposeful learning.

Playrooms

Our nursery features four spacious rooms, complemented by a dedicated sand room, a lending library, and an outdoor playroom for enriched learning experiences. These spaces are great for physical activity and fun exploration.

We offer flexible transitions based on each child’s ability rather than age. Our room names are as followed: Bear Cubs, Tigers, Lions, and Jungle.

Garden

Our garden is at the heart of Ruddington Day Nursery. Designed to inspire wonder and exploration. Our outdoor space includes a vegetable garden, a paddock filled with toys and equipment, and a large field dedicated to Forest School activities. Children enjoy exploring the mud kitchen, hammocks, dens, slack line, and loose parts. There’s also a special balcony play area for our babies to enjoy. In this setting, happy children learn how to push fun and exploration to the max!

Activities

Ruddington Day Nursery offers a range of fun and educational activities that cater to the diverse interests of our children. These include Boogie Mites, Sing and Sign, Make and Bake, Forest School, and Letters and Sounds, cooking, construction, play, visits to the local nursing home.

Children also spend a significant portion of their time outdoors, engaging in learning experiences through exploration of their natural environment.

Community Outings

We’re excited to offer a variety of outings throughout the year! We enjoy pumpkin-picking with our happy children at the local allotment, where we’ve secured a dedicated patch for our nursery. We also plan seasonal activities and excursions, including a festive trip to the pantomime in December, ensuring our children have a range of enriching experiences outside the playrooms.
