About Our Nursery

Curriculum

We embrace a variety of educational approaches within our nursery curriculum to encourage children’s growth and curiosity. Our program incorporates elements of Forest School, encouraging exploration and learning in nature, alongside the Curiosity Approach, which uses Loose Parts Play to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and independent learning. Touches of Reggio Emilla are also used in our curriculum which is a child centred approach which focuses on a child’s sense of self-worth and agency at the heart of its ideas. Together, these blend of approaches create a nurturing environment that promotes holistic development and a lifelong love of discovery.

Playrooms

Our nursery features four spacious rooms, complemented by a dedicated sand room, a lending library, and an outdoor playroom for enriched learning experiences. These spaces are great for physical activity and fun exploration. We offer flexible transitions based on each child’s ability rather than age. Our room names are as followed: Bear Cubs, Tigers, Lions, and Jungle.

Garden

Our garden is at the heart of Ruddington Day Nursery. Designed to inspire wonder and exploration. Our outdoor space includes a vegetable garden, a paddock filled with toys and equipment, and a large field dedicated to Forest School activities. Children enjoy exploring the mud kitchen, hammocks, dens, slack line, and loose parts. There’s also a special balcony play area for our babies to enjoy. In this setting, happy children learn how to push fun and exploration to the max!
