Wellbeing at Ryan House is supported through movement, nutritious food and plenty of opportunities to spend time outdoors. Healthy, balanced meals form part of the nursery day, while our newly refurbished garden and indoor climbing frame give children different ways to move, play and be active whatever the weather.
Strong partnerships with families are an important part of nursery life. The GrandirUK App keeps families connected with updates about their child’s day, development and achievements, while Stay and Play sessions, drop-in events and information evenings give families opportunities to spend time in the nursery and learn more about different aspects of Early Years development.
Our information evenings cover practical topics such as self-regulation and potty training, as well as helping families understand more about our curriculum and how children learn at Ryan House.
Children at Ryan House enjoy a varied mix of experiences, from painting and creative activities to reading, games and plenty of opportunities to play and explore. Activities are shaped around children’s ages, stages and interests, giving them different ways to get involved and discover new things.
Regular outings are an important part of nursery life too. Children head out into the local community for visits to places such as a nearby care home and local restaurants, as well as special trips to the pantomime. Our nursery minibus helps us take these experiences beyond the immediate area, giving children opportunities to visit different places and become more familiar with the community around them.
Our bright, spacious playrooms at Ryan House are well resourced, giving children plenty of room to play, create and follow their interests. An indoor climbing frame adds further opportunities for active play, helping children develop their physical skills whatever the weather.
Our nursery minibus means children can regularly head beyond the nursery for outings and experiences in the local community, making exploring the world around them a familiar part of nursery life.
Outdoor space
Our newly refurbished garden gives children plenty of opportunities to play, explore and be active outdoors. We also have direct access to the nearby cricket ground, extending the space available for physical play and outdoor experiences.
Forest School sessions take learning into a natural outdoor environment, where children can investigate, explore and take on new challenges through practical, hands-on experiences.
Children at Ryan House are cared for by familiar adults who take time to understand their routines, interests and individual needs. By getting to know each child well, our team can notice the small changes from one day to the next and respond to what they need.
These consistent relationships give children a familiar foundation from which to explore, try new experiences and develop growing confidence at their own pace.
Our Early Years curriculum at Ryan House supports learning and development across all areas, with children learning through play, discovery and experiences shaped around their interests.
Our GrandirUK education programmes bring this learning to life through Health and Self, Innovate and Investigate, Move and Groove, Make and Bake, and Sow and Grow. Together, they give children opportunities to explore different ideas, get creative, solve problems, be active and learn through practical, hands-on experiences.
We believe children learn through doing. At Ryan House, that means plenty of opportunities to get hands-on, whether they are baking, growing, building or exploring through our GrandirUK education programmes.
Our indoor climbing frame gives children space to move and be active whatever the weather, while Forest School sessions take learning outdoors and give them opportunities to explore the natural world. By having a go, trying different things and working through challenges, children can develop growing confidence in what they can do.
For families with more than one child, having siblings at Ryan House means one drop-off and pick-up before getting on with the rest of the day. Brothers and sisters can each enjoy a playroom suited to their own age and stage, while still having opportunities to see each other and share experiences in the garden and on nursery outings.
Being part of the same nursery also means families get to know one team, with familiar faces who can get to know each child and their individual needs.
Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space in the appropriate room, we will always do what we can to find places for brothers and sisters together.
Led by Nursery Manager Amber, our experienced team are at the heart of life at Ryan House. They bring a genuine commitment to Early Years practice, taking time to get to know each child and celebrating their individual progress and achievements.
Our qualified SENDCo brings additional knowledge and experience to the team, helping to make sure children who need additional support have their individual needs understood and appropriately supported.
