Parent Partnership
Parent Partnerships are at the heart of what we do at The Old Barn Day Nursery. We maintain strong, open lines of communication with families to create a collaborative environment. We use our nursery app to maintain continuous communication with parents throughout the day, providing real-time updates on their child’s activities, learning progress, and well-being.
Our nursery also offers numerous opportunities for parents to engage with their child’s learning journey through Stay and Play Sessions, Parents’ Evenings, and special celebrations such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Easter, and Christmas activities. We also offer a lending library for parents, providing a selection of resources and books to support and enhance their child’s learning and development at home.

Facilities
Playrooms
All of our playrooms are situated on the ground floor, offering ease of access and a spacious, airy environment for the children. The rooms are divided as follows:
Little Roosters (typically for babies and younger toddlers).
Little Chicklets (typically for toddlers).
Barn Owls (typically for older toddlers).
Each playroom is well-equipped and designed to encourage curiosity and exploration, in addition to large spaces that flow seamlessly into the outdoor garden area.
Garden
We’re fortunate to have a free-flow garden area accessible from all playrooms, ensuring that children can enjoy outdoor play in all types of weather. The spacious, well-resourced garden is equipped with durable AstroTurf and shaded areas to provide comfort and safety during outdoor activities.
Our outdoor space is designed to support children at every stage of their development. Our youngest children enjoy a dedicated baby garden, where they can explore safely in the wetsuits we provide. The under 2’s garden features a tunnel and other engaging resources to encourage curiosity and movement. For our older children, the over 2’s garden offers plenty of space for adventure, play, and discovery.
Our garden features a growing garden and mud kitchen area to inspire creativity and a connection to nature, and a climbing frame to encourage physical activity and build confidence. Children of all ages can engage in climbing ropes, balance activities, and obstacle courses that promote coordination and motor skills.

Activities
At The Old Barn Day Nursery, we believe in creating well-rounded experiences for our children. To enhance their learning, we offer activities such as Boogie Mites and Sing & Sign, which promote early communication, language skills, and physical development.
Community Outings
With being located in a prime area, this allows us to host a variety of community events and educational outings, creating strong ties with local culture and the Leicestershire community.
