Welcome to Little Acorns Day Nursery in Stoneygate, just off London Road in Leicester. We welcome children from 0 to 5 years and are open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 6:00pm.
Close to Brook Street, Howdon Road and the local high street, our nursery has good transport links into Leicester city centre. On-site parking and bike storage also make it convenient to reach by car or bike.
Wellbeing is an important part of nursery life at Little Acorns, alongside children’s learning and development. Our on-site chef prepares nutritious, balanced meals, while gentle routines in the baby room and daily outdoor learning in preschool give children experiences suited to their age and stage.
Through the GrandirUK App, families receive updates about their child’s day, routines and development. We also offer a lending library, take-home resources and guidance on topics including toilet training, healthy eating, first aid and child development.
Families are invited to join us for celebrations and events throughout the year, including Eid, Diwali, Father’s Day, Christmas and our annual Preschool Graduation.
Boogie Mites, Sing and Sign, Make and Bake and Move and Groove are regular parts of the week at Little Acorns, alongside Fun Time training sessions that give children opportunities to develop teamwork, communication and confidence.
Children also have regular opportunities to explore their local community, with visits to the fruit and vegetable shop, the Botanic Gardens, the Arboretum and a local care home for intergenerational activities.
Our rooms at Little Acorns are thoughtfully arranged around each age and stage, giving children spaces and experiences suited to their development.
Across the nursery, playrooms are equipped with natural resources and open-ended materials that support learning through play, alongside a variety of creative experiences for children to explore.
Preschool’s direct garden access means children can move between indoor and outdoor play throughout the day, extending their exploration whenever opportunities arise.
Outdoor space
Our garden offers a variety of ways to play and explore, including a large sandpit, mud kitchen, construction area, music trail and soft-play zones. These different spaces give children opportunities for active play, creativity and exploration outdoors.
Babies also have their own outdoor mats and age-appropriate resources, giving them opportunities to spend time outside in a space suited to their stage of development.
Responsive care starts with getting to know each child as an individual. Our practitioners shape learning and experiences around each child’s interests, needs and stage of development, providing a warm and personalised experience.
By understanding where each child is in their development, the team can offer the right level of support and challenge, giving children time to explore, build skills and develop at their own pace.
Our curriculum brings together a range of educational approaches, giving children opportunities to explore, imagine and develop a broad range of skills. Our bespoke education programmes support areas including independence, mathematical reasoning, fine motor development, creativity and problem-solving, alongside communication and emotional wellbeing.
We believe children learn through play, and that shapes everyday life at Little Acorns. Our rooms include natural materials and open-ended resources that give children opportunities to imagine, experiment and find their own ways to solve problems.
Our location also gives children opportunities to explore beyond the nursery, with the local community providing new places, people and experiences to discover.
On-site parking makes drop-off and pick-up easier for families with more than one child, while bike storage is available for those who cycle.
Brothers and sisters have rooms suited to their own age and stage, while sharing the outdoor area gives them opportunities to see each other during the day. The shared garden means a preschooler may spot a younger sibling enjoying the baby outdoor area.
Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space in the appropriate rooms, we will always look at the options for welcoming brothers and sisters together.
Led by Nursery Manager Kerry, our long-standing team bring a wealth of Early Years knowledge and experience to Little Acorns.
We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every child is supported as an individual. Our SENCo team works closely with children, families and the wider team to understand individual needs and provide appropriate support throughout their time at nursery.
