Chingford Forest Day Nursery and Preschool in London is uniquely nestled on the edge of the magical Epping Forest, in a large, old Lodge House which is set in half an acre of outdoor grounds. We believe this contributes to nurturing, inspiring and encouraging a child’s development and allows them to thrive. Our staff are long-standing – something our parent’s regularly comment on appreciatively!
Welcome to Our London Nursery
As one of the leading nurseries in Epping, Essex, we’ve embraced our beautiful forest surroundings, incorporating a nature-inspired theme throughout our nursery and preschool. Our log cabin is home to our forest preschool class, offering a unique outdoor learning experience.
Our prime location offers daily access to the great outdoors, giving children the freedom to explore nature and enjoy a rural feel—all while staying within the convenience of the city.
We are proud of our ‘Good’ Ofsted rating, which reflects the dedication, care, and hard work of our team in providing high-quality education and developmental opportunities. Key Services
Forest School: Our forest school setting creates a fun, immersive and exciting learning opportunity. While we do put a focus on the outdoors, our educational programmes and facilities are carefully designed to ensure our little learners are getting every opportunity to learn and grow.
Sensory Room:Â We enjoy utilising our sensory room which we use for meditation music, watching the sensory lights, and providing the opportunity to explore a variety of senses. We love seeing how our babies and beyond flourish in this room!
Three Garden Spaces: The outdoors is a huge focus of ours. We believe that outdoor play is hugely beneficial to early years development.
Cooking Classes:Â This is a one of our favourite activities! It is fun, provides ample opportunity for learning, teaches kids practical skills (like mathematics), and helps foster independence. Cooking classes are provided for in a supportive and safe environment.
Nutritious Meals: Not only are the meals we provide nutritious (and sometimes prepared by the children themselves!), but they are also tasty. We follow strict guidelines to ensure each meal is packed with nutrients, follows age-specific guidelines, is safe for those with allergies, and provides a holistic eating experience.
Highly Experienced Staff: Our staff are highly experienced in early years education (and continue to expand their skills) and have been with Chingford Forest Day Nursery and Preschool for an extended period of time. A true testament to their passion for their work and their enjoyment of our nursery school!
Location
Our nursery is conveniently located with great transport links. The nearest station is Chingford Station, and the 379 bus stops right outside the nursery, offering a direct route there.
Alternatively, you can catch the 215 bus, which is just a 5-minute walk from the nursery, and it will take you to Walthamstow Central Station, making your commute easy and stress-free.
About Our Nursery
Chingford Forest Nursery and Preschool based in Epping, Essex is dedicated to providing high-quality, excellent education with a focus on forest school elements.
Our highly experienced, longstanding staff are passionate about and dedicated to developing strong foundations in each child to give them the best possible start to their educational journey.
We believe in the power of the outdoors and forest school principles in encouraging learning, curiosity, imagination and play to allow each child to flourish!
We offer full day hours and we’re open all year round, besides for our festive season closure. Our non domestic premises is fully secure, with strict safeguarding structures in place. You can read our nursery policies and about our health and safety.
Curriculum
Chingford Forest Day Nursery and Preschool follows a comprehensive curriculum as well as core educational programmes such as Sow and Grow, Make and Bake, Health and Self, Innovate and Investigate, and Move and Groove.

Team
Our amazing staff have been with us for numerous years and have contributed to the wonderful family feel. We have highly qualified staff who are passionate about early years education. Two of our staff are in the process of obtaining their various forest school levels.
Parent Partnership
Our team makes use of our nursery app to communicate with parents on what has been learnt, what activities they are doing, how their day is going, and more.
Our app is an easy-to-use resource to get access to events, special days, booking, payments and more.
The team ensures that a comprehensive handover is given upon collection.
Facilities
Classes
Please note that these age ranges are a guideline, we assess the developmental and emotional stage of each child before transitioning them to the next room.
Babies: Our babies are located in the front room upstairs with easy access to the sensory room next door.
Babies 2: Our older babies class is located in the backroom upstairs and they also have access to the sensory room.
Toddlers: Are toddlers classroom is down stairs and have access to our beautiful barked garden.
Forest preschool: Our pre-schoolers are located in our log cabin situated in our forest garden. They have access to our forest school inspired garden.
Outdoor Space
We have three gardens to embrace our surroundings, forest school principles and for our children to enjoy and learn. Our families love our garden space!
The barked garden complete with a mud kitchen, logs to climb on and explore, and a bug hotel.
The soft surface area gives all ages the chance to run around and explore, ride bikes and play with push along cars.
Our forest garden which has forest school elements throughout, a giant tractor tyre to climb, a mud kitchen and endless exploring opportunities!
Activities
Forest School
We have a newly built log cabin to accompany our forest school principles and aesthetic. Two of our staff are currently completing level 2 of forest school.
Our team and kids enjoy experiencing the outdoors and the implementation of forest school which adds an important dimension to their early years development.
We see a lot of wildlife, from muntjac to parakeets, which we get to explore daily.
Community Outings
We regularly take our children to the Epping Forest, which our nursery school and preschool is situated next to.

Shamima has over 27 years of experience in Early Years education, including 15 years in management, with a strong passion for supporting children and families to achieve the best start in life. She is a motivated and organised leader who strives to create nurturing learning environments and drive continuous improvement through professional development and collaboration. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling and exploring different cultures and ways of life.
Shamima has over 27 years of experience in Early Years education, including 15 years in management, with a strong passion for supporting children and families to achieve the best start in life. She is a motivated and organised leader who strives to create nurturing learning environments and drive continuous improvement through professional development and collaboration.
