Nursery Manager
Puddleduck Nursery in St Martins Church is nestled in the charming Chavey Down area. Our Ascot Nursery is the perfect place for your child to develop a lifelong love of learning. From the moment your child joins our home-from-home nursery family, our dedicated team works closely with you to ensure a smooth transition.
Puddleduck St Martin’s nursery, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, is a unique two-location nursery set in the serene hamlet of Chavey Down, Ascot. Catering for children under 3 years old, we provide a calm, nurturing environment with plenty of indoor and outdoor space for safe exploration, play, and growth.
Learning through play is central to everything we do, with our expertly trained staff following a specialised Early Years curriculum to foster curiosity and development. When children are ready, around age 3, they transition seamlessly to our nearby Puddleduck Preschool on Priory Road, dedicated to children aged 3–5.
Our dual-location approach ensures consistency and continuity in care, and we’re proud to provide an inclusive, safe, and welcoming environment your child can thrive from babyhood to preschool.
Our location
We are located in the St. Martin’s Church Hall, a well-known and cherished spot within the local community. Nestled in the charming Chavey Down area of Ascot, our nursery is set within large private grounds. We’re conveniently situated just a short distance from both Ascot and Bracknell train stations, making us easily accessible for families.
About our Nursery in Ascot
Curriculum
We follow a play-based nursery following the Reggio Amelia approach. The Reggio Amelia methodology mean’s that we value and engage with child-initiated activities. Challenge ideas through open ended questioning. We respect the child’s own idea; we allow the child to make mistakes and observe and judge appropriate moments to intervene.
The Reggio Amelia methodology takes the child’s interest and turns it into a learning process allowing the child to learn about themselves and the world around them.

Our Team
At Puddleduck Nursery St Martins, our passionate team provides exceptional care and early years education for children under two. Their energy and dedication create a warm, inspiring environment where children feel safe and happy.
We focus on building strong relationships with each child and their family, fostering a home-like atmosphere. Through play-based learning and one-on-one attention, we support your child’s development, growth, and confidence as they explore the world at their own pace.
Parent Partnership
At Puddleduck St Martin’s, we prioritize open communication with parents, using our nursery app to share live updates on your child’s activities, progress, and well-being. From photos of art projects to developmental milestones, we keep you connected to their nursery experience.
We also host events like drop-in sessions, ‘Stay and Play’ mornings, and talks on topics such as potty training and emotional development, offering support and insights as your child grows. Together, we aim to give your child the best start possible.
Facilities
Playrooms
Our nursery has two large spaces, thoughtfully arranged into dedicated zones to support various aspects of play, learning, and relaxation. Each area offers something special for the children to enjoy, including a role play corner to spark imagination, an arts and crafts zone to inspire creativity, a cosy reading nook for quiet moments, a climbing area for active exploration, and a restful space for naptime.
Children are typically grouped into two age-based groups, younger children and older toddlers. This allows us to tailor activities and care to their developmental needs, with the older group preparing for a smooth transition to preschool. This layout and grouping approach encourages social interaction and personal growth, ensuring every child feels supported and engaged.
Garden
The nursery features a generously sized garden with a variety of outdoor play equipment that the children thoroughly enjoy. The garden provides endless opportunities for exploration, active play, and learning in the fresh air. This outdoor space is a favourite among the children, encouraging them to develop their physical skills, creativity, and love for nature in a safe and engaging environment.
