Key Services
Here’s just a few of the reasons we believe your child would flourish with us at our beautiful nursery on St Martins, Church Road.
Home-From-Home Environment
We provide a safe, secure, and comfortable environment with spaces for play, rest, and learning. Dedicated zones for activities like role play, arts and crafts, reading, and climbing encourage children to choose and explore.
Our nursery is equipped with high-quality toys and equipment to keep children engaged and growing. We also support children with special educational needs through individual plans, a dedicated SENCO, and close family collaboration.
Enrichment Activities
Outdoor play is vital for childhood, so we ensure plenty of time outside—exploring our garden, nature walks, or Forest School sessions. These activities inspire learning, play, and discovery.
Each week, a specialist games provider engages children in fun activities that build teamwork, coordination, and sharing. Messy and sensory play sessions, a favourite among the children, encourage hands-on exploration and development.
We also offer baby yoga to support coordination, motor skills, focus, and listening.
Outdoor Play Area
Our well-maintained and well-resourced garden offers the children a safe, secure environment in which to enjoy being outdoors. There is plenty to keep them busy, from the high-quality play equipment to the mini vegetable garden and sand pit, there is always something exciting to do while getting essential fresh air and vitamin D!
Healthy And Nutritious Meals
We take food and nutrition seriously, following strict protocols and guidelines to ensure every meal is healthy, nutritious, and safe. We adhere carefully to dietary requirements, including allergy management and individual preferences, to guarantee each child’s safety.
At the same time, we make food fun by encouraging children to explore textures, colours, and flavours in wholesome meals. For less adventurous eaters, we provide familiar, comforting options to help build confidence as their tastes develop.
Links To Private Schools
We are extremely lucky to be located in an area that is rich in a variety of different schooling options, from excellent state funded local schools, to a range of exceptional private schools. We have established relationships with many of these schools and many of our children go on from us to join them once they turn five.
Location
We are located in the St. Martin’s Church Hall, a well-known and cherished spot within the local community. Nestled in the charming Chavey Down area of Ascot, our nursery is set within large private grounds. We’re conveniently situated just a short distance from both Ascot and Bracknell train stations, making us easily accessible for families.
About our Nursery and Early Childhood Education
Curriculum
We follow a play-based nursery following the Reggio Amelia approach. The Reggio Amelia methodology mean’s that we value and engage with child-initiated activities. Challenge ideas through open ended questioning. We respect the child’s own idea; we allow the child to make mistakes and observe and judge appropriate moments to intervene.
The Reggio Amelia methodology takes the child’s interest and turns it into a learning process allowing the child to learn about themselves and the world around them.
Our Team
At Puddleduck Nursery St Martins, our passionate team provides exceptional care and early years education for children under two. Their energy and dedication create a warm, inspiring environment where children feel safe and happy.
We focus on building strong relationships with each child and their family, fostering a home-like atmosphere. Through play-based learning and one-on-one attention, we support your child’s development, growth, and confidence as they explore the world at their own pace.
Parent Partnership
At Puddleduck St Martin’s, we prioritize open communication with parents, using our nursery app to share live updates on your child’s activities, progress, and well-being. From photos of art projects to developmental milestones, we keep you connected to their nursery experience.
We also host events like drop-in sessions, ‘Stay and Play’ mornings, and talks on topics such as potty training and emotional development, offering support and insights as your child grows. Together, we aim to give your child the best start possible.

Facilities
Playrooms
Our nursery has two large spaces, thoughtfully arranged into dedicated zones to support various aspects of play, learning, and relaxation. Each area offers something special for the children to enjoy, including a role play corner to spark imagination, an arts and crafts zone to inspire creativity, a cosy reading nook for quiet moments, a climbing area for active exploration, and a restful space for naptime.
Children are typically grouped into two age-based groups, younger children and older toddlers. This allows us to tailor activities and care to their developmental needs, with the older group preparing for a smooth transition to preschool. This layout and grouping approach encourages social interaction and personal growth, ensuring every child feels supported and engaged.
Garden
The nursery features a generously sized garden with a variety of outdoor play equipment that the children thoroughly enjoy. The garden provides endless opportunities for exploration, active play, and learning in the fresh air. This outdoor space is a favourite among the children, encouraging them to develop their physical skills, creativity, and love for nature in a safe and engaging environment.
