Welcome to Crystal Palace Day Nursery, located on Maberley Road, close to Upper Norwood. We are open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 6:30pm and are within walking distance of both Crystal Palace and Anerley stations.
Crystal Palace Park is close by, giving children regular opportunities to explore the park and spend time outdoors. We also have a local primary school nearby, helping children become familiar with the wider community around them as they approach school age.
With two nearby stations and good local transport links, our Crystal Palace nursery is well placed for families living and working across the surrounding area.
Children at Crystal Palace enjoy nutritious meals every day, included within our nursery fees. Mealtimes are relaxed and social, giving children opportunities to eat together, develop independence and build confidence as they explore different foods.
Time outdoors is also part of everyday nursery life, with regular opportunities for fresh air, movement and play in our garden.
Good communication helps families feel connected to nursery life. We use the GrandirUK App to share updates about each child’s day, including their activities, meals and learning.
We also offer resources, events and ongoing support for families, creating opportunities to stay involved in their child’s learning and development throughout their time at Crystal Palace.
Children at Crystal Palace enjoy creative play, sensory experiences and lively Boogie Mites sessions, giving them plenty of opportunities to develop communication skills and confidence while having fun.
Exploring the local community is also a regular part of nursery life. Children enjoy walks to Crystal Palace Park for fresh air, outdoor play and space to get active, as well as trips to local shops that help them become familiar with the people and places around them.
Crystal Palace Day Nursery is arranged around one large room divided into dedicated areas for different types of learning and play. Rather than moving through separate rooms as they get older, children can explore different spaces within the room as their interests and development change.
This flexible layout means children remain in a familiar environment as they grow, while still experiencing new challenges, activities and opportunities for independence.
Outdoor space
We have two outdoor areas at Crystal Palace: a main garden and a forest garden, both used throughout the year. Children have regular opportunities to spend time outdoors, exploring nature, planting and discovering how the natural world changes through the seasons.
Our vegetable patch gives children hands-on experience of planting, caring for and watching things grow, while the water feature provides another opportunity for sensory exploration. Together, the two gardens offer space for active play as well as quieter moments of discovery outdoors.
Familiar, consistent care helps children feel secure at nursery. Our team create a supportive environment where children get to know the people around them and become familiar with the rhythm of their day.
That sense of familiarity can help children feel comfortable and confident as they explore, play and try new experiences.
Our approach to early years education at Crystal Palace uses In The Moment Planning, responding to each child’s interests and giving them opportunities to explore, play and develop at their own pace.
Through play, exploration and sensory experiences, children are supported across all areas of development, with plenty of opportunities to build confidence, independence and communication skills as part of everyday nursery life.
We believe some of the most meaningful learning starts with a child’s own curiosity. At Crystal Palace, we use In The Moment Planning, which means our team respond to what interests a child in that moment, building on their ideas rather than always directing them towards a planned activity.
Our forest garden and regular walks to Crystal Palace Park create even more opportunities for children to follow their curiosity, explore and discover at their own pace.
Bringing siblings to Maberley Road can make the nursery journey simpler for families, with one walk from Crystal Palace or Anerley station. Our nursery is arranged around one large room divided into dedicated areas, so siblings at different stages can remain close to each other while enjoying experiences suited to their age and development.
Children also share our main garden and forest garden, creating more opportunities for siblings to see each other during the day. Sibling places are subject to availability, but where we have space across both age groups, our team will do their best to accommodate brothers and sisters together.
Crystal Palace is led by Nursery Manager Delilah and an experienced, caring team with a strong background in Early Years education. The team work closely together to provide consistent care and build warm, trusting relationships with each child.
We also work closely with families, sharing information and getting to know what matters to each child so that they feel understood and supported throughout their time at nursery.
