As part of our continuation of Dicky Birds Day Nursery and Preschool settings within Surbiton, we offer an additional service for children aged 4 to 11 years attending the local Maple Infants School and St Andrews and St Marks Junior School.
Our breakfast and after school provision, creates more flexibility for you to fit school drop-offs and pick-ups around busy schedules without sacrificing the care for your child.
Welcome to our Breakfast and After School Club
Our excellent reputation within the area is a testament to the level of high-quality, comprehensive childcare we provide from the moment your child joins, and the flexibility we offer to our parents to meet their individual needs.
Since we have been established, we have created great relationships with our local school teachers so you can be sure that the information you provide us on your child’s health, happiness and wellbeing will be passed on to their teachers at school and vice versa.
Unlike other breakfast and after school provisions in the area, our club provides home cooked meals so you don’t have to worry about sorting out breakfast or tea, and can be rest assured that your child is getting the right nutrients throughout the day.
We are not just a childcare service, we really get involved with our families and care for their child as if we were a part of your family, we assist with the day to day to make sure each and every child’s needs are being met.
The children love spending time having fun with their friends after school and love the freedom of choice of what they can do at our club.
Is our Dicky Birds Breakfast and After School Club something that would be of interest to you? We would love to discuss your needs and talk to you about our activities, availability, fees, and answer any questions you may have.

About our Dicky Birds Surbiton Club
Curriculum
Our offering is less about a formal education and more about practising and learning life skills to further prepare your child for the future.
Every day is an opportunity to learn at our club! All the children in our care learn social skills, table manners, practice using cutlery, how to look out for one another, helping those in need, taking turns and more.
As our children develop, we recognise and reward their achievements like showing good table manners and supporting friends.
Older children also have the added opportunity to volunteer to be ‘Club Helpers’ and assist staff in laying the table, making sure everyone has a drink at dinner tea time and making sure everyone is having a good time, developing their leadership skills for later on in life.
Team
Our Dicky Birds Breakfast and After School Club is run by our talented Club Manager who has worked here for 12 years!
Similar to a Dicky Birds Day Nursery team, the club is home to five qualified, Nursery Practitioners, a highly skilled on-site chef, a SENCo Lead and Designated Safeguard Lead.
We are proud of our amazing team! Each staff member is caring, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about what they do. They work full-time and have many years of experience, which has allowed them to build strong, lasting relationships with the children, parents, and the local supporting school staff. This long-term commitment helps create a warm, supportive environment where everyone feels valued and connected.
Parent Partnerships
We go above and beyond to give a fully comprehensive level of care to our families!
We keep our parents in the loop of how their child is getting on at school and how they’ve been with us at the breakfast and after school club.
We also invite parents to come and spend time with their child in our setting to have fun and join in during the activities.

Facilities
We are located in St Andrews Hall in Surbiton, and provide a pack-away provision within walking distance to Maple Infants School and St Andrews and St Marks Junior School.
We take your child to their school at the beginning of the day and pick them up in the afternoon, ensuring that your child is getting to school and back to the club safely.
Classrooms
All children play together in the same space providing the opportunity for peer-to-peer support, starting from our reception aged children up to and including our year six, and guidance throughout the sessions by our staff.
Our offering includes three main areas: our hallway which doubles as an art room, our glass room where we have sit down meals and messy play, our kitchen where breakfast and tea is cooked fresh every day by our club chef, and our blue room which is a carpeted area where we hold activities such as role playing games and dodge ball.
Garden
We have a front garden area which we use in good weather. Children love to do water play and physical activities here, like hula hoop, skipping rope and much more.
During the summer term, we bring out our paddling pool for all children to cool down and relax during the hot weather.

Activities
We have a wide variety of activities for children to choose from at our club.
These include construction play such as Lego bricks, role playing and dressing up games, board and team games, arts and crafts, video games console and more!
We believe that children should have the freedom of choice when it comes to their play time and they enjoy choosing the fun activities to do with their friends and our staff.
