About Our Nursery
Curriculum
Our curriculum adopts a blended approach, combining the power of learning through play with a range of methodologies such as the Curiosity Approach, Planning In The Moment, loose parts play, and Hygge. We embrace a variety of techniques to ensure every aspect of learning and development is thoughtfully covered.
We’re also excited to have a Forest School right on our grounds, which we use a couple of times each week. This allows children to explore, connect with nature, and engage in outdoor learning experiences.
Kiddi Caru Leighton Buzzard also incorporates our unique educational programmes. They include Sow and Grow, Make and Bake, Health and Self, Innovate and Investigate, and Move and Groove.Â
We have a My Smile Accreditation which promotes oral health and hygiene, we brush their teeth at nursery and link it to looking after teeth and healthy foods.
We recently received our Healthy Child- Healthy Workforce accreditation, which goes towards our mental health and wellbeing initiatives.

Facilities
Playrooms
Our spacious building is home to five unique playrooms, each lovingly designed and resourced for different age groups and developmental stages.
Every room offers calming, natural resources and engaging, child-led activities to spark curiosity and growth. We move each child up when they’re ready developmentally and emotionally, making sure transitions are smooth and happy.
Caterpillars: Our cosy baby room provides a nurturing environment, designed to support the developmental needs of our youngest children.
Ladybirds: This room caters to younger toddlers and features free-flow access to the baby garden, allowing for both indoor and outdoor exploration.
Bumblebees: Bright and spacious, this room includes a large extension that offers plenty of space for active play and discovery, providing a stimulating environment for our toddlers.
Butterflies: For our older toddlers, Butterflies offers direct access to the garden, encouraging outdoor learning and physical development in a secure setting.
Dragonflies: Our preschool room helps prepare children for school, it is led by a dedicated Early Years teacher. They follow our Foundations for the Future curriculum, which focuses on building essential skills to ensure a smooth transition to school.
Outdoor Space
Being in beautiful Leighton Buzzard allows us to bring forest school principles to life, using our large garden as often as possible to encourage kids to be active, explore, and develop their love for the outdoors.
Our children absolutely thrive in their outdoor time, and with two playrooms offering free-flow access to the garden, they can easily move between indoors and outdoors as they wish.
We enjoy encouraging adventurous play through activities like building bug hotels, planting, muddy kitchen fun, and climbing.
There’s even a hammock and a cosy reading shed for those who want a calm moment to enjoy the fresh air and sounds of nature!

Activities
We incorporate Boogie Mites into our daily activities across various playrooms, ensuring all children enjoy learning through music and movement. Babies under two engage in Sign and Sign, enhancing communication skills in a fun and interactive way.
Community Outings
We’re lucky to have such easy access to our local community!
To add to the children’s learning experiences, we take regular walks to nearby shops, the pet store, the care home, and other local spots.
These outings are a big hit with the children, creating fantastic learning opportunities and sparking wonderful conversations.
Every week, we also visit Leighton Rose Care Home as part of our intergenerational project.
Both the children and the residents absolutely love these visits, sharing smiles, stories, and laughter that brighten everyone’s day!
