Curriculum

At Little Cubs Academy nursery in Forest Hill our curriculum is designed to support all areas of development according to the EYFS framework. We integrate a range of activities to promote independence, curiosity, and hands-on learning. Children also benefit from daily outdoor play in our garden, which supports physical development and well-being.

We fundamentally believe that traditional teaching methods paired with core values of love, care, compassion, honesty, equality, and nurture, should be at the heart of everything that we do. We very much strive to be the best nursery in Forest Hill.

Team

Our Forest Hill day nursery is led by a nursery manager with extensive Early Years experience, supported by a skilled team dedicated to providing excellent childcare and education. We prioritise warm relationships with children and families to create a secure and stimulating learning environment.

Parent Partnerships

We maintain strong communication with families through regular updates and parent meetings. Using our nursery app, we share observations, progress, and upcoming activities to keep you closely involved in your child’s nursery experience.

Facilities

Parents appreciate the welcoming, homely atmosphere at Little Cubs Honor Oak. Our nursery has dedicated rooms for babies, toddlers, and preschool children, each designed to meet developmental needs. Children benefit from direct access to our secure outdoor play area, ensuring plenty of fresh air and opportunities for active play.

Playrooms

Bear and Lion cubs is our baby room. A structured yet flexible routine, teachers focus on providing love, cuddles and sensory/tactile play. We help to build confidence by ensuring the children feel secure and cared for. We open up a world of discovery, and provide plenty of opportunities for messy and outdoor play, music and games.

Tiger Cubs is our toddler room: Fresh air and outdoor play including gardening, ball games, and bikes/trikes are a focus, as well as helping to grow children’s developing senses and interaction skills. We promote every child’s uniqueness, and aid them in learning about themselves.

Our preschool rooms: Supporting children’s learning in a planned, yet play-based environment, we help build confidence, self-assurance, independence, and respect for others, so that children are armed with the skills and knowledge for their next step.

Garden

The Forest Hill nursery and pre-school’s outside area features an organic fruit and vegetable growing area, a mud kitchen and a library where children can relax on a bean bag and enjoy their favourite book in a cosy environment.

Our garden offers children a safe and stimulating environment to explore nature, develop physical skills, and engage in imaginative play. We encourage children to be outside every day, whatever the weather, to support their health and wellbeing.

Activities

At our day nursery and preschool, our children enjoy a wide range of activities including arts and crafts activities, music and movement sessions, sensory play, creative arts, cooking and language development games. All activities are designed to inspire curiosity and learning.

Community Outings

We organise regular local trips and outings to parks and community venues to broaden children’s experiences and connect them with the local area.
