About our Nursery in Honor Oak, Forest Hill
Curriculum and Early Years Education
Our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and supports all areas of children’s development, including communication, physical development, social skills and emotional wellbeing. Learning is delivered through play, exploration and meaningful experiences, helping children build confidence, curiosity and independence while developing important early learning skills.
Children benefit from a broad range of experiences, including creative play, outdoor learning and age‑appropriate activities that support early years education and prepare them for the transition to school. We believe that love, care, compassion, honesty and nurture should sit at the heart of everything we do, and we continually strive to be the best nursery in Forest Hill.

Team
Our Forest Hill nursery is led by an experienced nursery manager and supported by a dedicated team of highly qualified early years professionals. All nursery staff are passionate about childcare and education and work closely together to create a warm, supportive and stimulating environment. Strong relationships between children and staff help children feel safe, valued and confident throughout their nursery journey.
Parent Partnerships
We place great importance on strong parent partnerships and open communication. Families receive regular updates about their child’s day, development and activities through our nursery app, alongside parent meetings and informal conversations. This approach ensures happy parents and carers that feel involved, informed and supported every step of the way.
Playrooms
Our nursery has dedicated rooms for babies, toddlers and preschool children, each carefully designed to meet the needs of the relevant age group. Our baby room, Bear and Lion Cubs, offers a calm and nurturing space where staff focus on comfort, sensory play and building secure attachments. The toddler room, Tiger Cubs, encourages exploration, movement and social interaction through play, outdoor experiences and structured activities. Our preschool rooms provide a planned yet play‑based environment that supports independence, confidence and school readiness.
Outdoor Play and Garden
Children enjoy daily outdoor play in our secure garden, which includes an organic fruit and vegetable growing area, a mud kitchen and cosy spaces for reading and quiet time. Outdoor activities support physical development, wellbeing and a connection with nature, and children are encouraged to spend time outside in all weather conditions to enjoy fresh air and active play.
Food and Wellbeing
We provide freshly prepared, balanced meals and snacks each day to support children’s health and development. Mealtimes are relaxed, social experiences where children can enjoy nutritious food and develop positive eating habits.

Activities
Children at Little Cubs Academy enjoy a wide range of activities that support learning, creativity and enjoyment throughout the nursery day. Children take part in arts and crafts activities, creative arts, music and movement, PE, cooking, sensory play and language development games. These experiences help children build confidence, develop physical and social skills, and express themselves through play. Activities are adapted for each age group so babies, toddlers and preschool children all benefit in ways that suit their stage of development.
Outings
We organise regular outings within the local community to help children explore the world around them and develop a sense of belonging. Trips may include visits to nearby parks, green spaces and local community venues around Honor Oak and Forest Hill. Outings give children valuable opportunities to experience fresh air, practise independence and engage with their surroundings in a safe and supported way. These experiences help broaden children’s understanding of their local area while supporting wellbeing, curiosity and social development.
