Tucked away in the Dempsey Court development on Adenmore Road, just off Rushey Green, Little Cubs Catford Green, formerly Little Elms, is a 63-place day nursery offering a welcoming, nurturing environment for children from birth to five years. Our smaller setting gives the team plenty of opportunities to get to know each child and their family, helping children feel comfortable and supported as they settle into nursery life.
We're open Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 6:00pm, and conveniently located near Catford, Catford Bridge and Ladywell stations, with transport links across Lewisham and into central London.
Come and visit us to meet the team, explore the rooms and get a feel for everyday life at Little Cubs Catford Green.
The first weeks at a new nursery are often the ones families remember most, and Little Cubs Catford Green builds those weeks carefully. Settling-in sessions are the main way children get used to the setting before their first full day, giving them time to meet the team, play in the rooms, and come back a bit more confident each visit. Each child is assigned a key person who learns the detail that matters: the comfort objects, the words they use, the parts of the day they find hardest.
Once a child has settled, the day finds its own shape. There are busier stretches and quieter ones, time for food together and time to be absorbed in something on their own. The team shares what they see through conversations at the gate and through the GrandirUK App, so families stay close to the day even when they are not in the room.
Little Cubs Catford Green runs a varied week built around what children are curious about. In any given week you will see sensory play, singing and movement, storytime, creative and messy activities, time outside in the garden, cooking, and quieter moments spent looking closely at something small. The pace is relaxed enough for children to stay with an activity when it has their attention, which is often where the deepest learning happens.
The wider GrandirUK network adds five bespoke educational programmes: Move & Groove for music, dance and physical activity, Health & Self for wellbeing and confidence, Innovate & Investigate for STEM, Make & Bake for creativity and practical skills, and Sow & Grow for food and nature. The programmes give children experiences they might not meet at home and build steady confidence in trying new things.
Inside, Little Cubs Catford Green is a bright, well-resourced setting with rooms grouped by age. Children move through spaces that have been set up for their stage: lower-level play and sleep areas for the youngest, more structured zones for the twos and threes, and preschool resources that get children used to the kind of self-directed activity school expects.
Outside, the garden gives children regular access to fresh air, movement and the slower kind of outdoor time where they notice weather, textures and growing things. Every GrandirUK nursery has outdoor space, and the Catford Green team uses it across the year. The best way to see how indoor and outdoor flow together is to come in person.
Continuity is one of the main reasons families choose a nursery, and Little Cubs Catford Green protects it in two ways. First, each child has a key person who holds the detail of their day and development. Second, a buddy arrangement means another familiar face is ready when the key person is on leave, in training or off sick, so the child does not meet a stranger on a Monday morning.
Day to day, the thread between home and nursery runs through quick drop-off and pick-up conversations and through the GrandirUK App. The App shares meals, naps, nappies, photos and the moments the team notices in a child's learning, which helps families stay in step without needing a long debrief at the end of the day.
Care and learning go hand in hand at Little Cubs Catford Green. A child sorting objects into piles is practising maths. A child retelling a story at the snack table is practising language. The team watches for these moments, adds the right question or resource, and keeps a running sense of where each child is heading.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the framework for all of this. Across GrandirUK, teams follow a simple rhythm of observe, understand, support and celebrate. Progress is tracked as the child's own story, not as a comparison with anyone else, and the GrandirUK App makes it visible to families as it happens.
Children arrive at nursery already interested in things, and the best early years practice takes those interests seriously. Little Cubs Catford Green does this by staying in regular conversation with families about what the child is doing at home: the picture book that keeps coming out, the thing they insist on helping with in the kitchen, the question they keep asking at bedtime.
These threads matter more than any single activity. A child fascinated by a trip to the park might lead a week of outdoor investigation. A child learning to pour at home might want to lead snack time. Giving children's interests time to grow is how they develop confidence to try new things, and a visit is the best way to see what this looks like in practice.
When more than one child in the family needs childcare, one setting is almost always easier than two. Little Cubs Catford Green has 63 places across rooms for the full 0 to 5 age range, which means siblings can share a drop-off, a pick-up and a Friday Show-and-Tell without their parents making a second journey across Catford.
A 10% sibling discount applies to the oldest child when siblings attend. Availability depends on which rooms you need and which days, so the earlier the team hears from you, the better they can match it. Talk to the team about ages, days and the discount paperwork at the same time.
A nursery is only as good as the people in its rooms, so meeting the Little Cubs Catford Green team is an important part of your decision. Practitioners work with specific age groups and build the kind of knowledge that only comes from spending real time with the same children week after week. Like every GrandirUK nursery, Little Cubs Catford Green has a dedicated SENCo supporting children with additional needs.
When you visit, the useful questions are the specific ones. How do handovers between rooms work? What happens when a child is having a hard week? How does the team decide a child is ready to move up? The answers tell you more than most of what you will read online.
