About our Crystal Palace Day Nursery
Curriculum
We focus on In The Moment Planning, following the children’s interests that they like to do at home.
For our young babies, we follow a home-from-home style of learning to help them settle into nursery life. For our older babies, we follow the basics of the Curiosity Approach.
By using open ended resources, loose parts play for the older babies, and resources that are floor based for the babies at eye level, we find this enhances the curiosity and show a passion to learn more.
Team
We are proud to have a team of loving and caring staff members who go above and beyond for all of the children in our care.
Our team is made up of longstanding staff members, one member being with us for 36 years! We are dedicated to keeping our team happy and providing them lots of opportunities to develop their knowledge on Early Years education.
Our staff members are made up of two SENCo practitioners, three Designated Safeguarding Leads’ and lots of passionate and experienced staff, both qualified and unqualified!
Parent Partnerships
We are more than just a nursery; we are a community. Our families truly feel part of the family, as we have built strong, lasting relationships with the children, their families, and our staff.
Our nursery app is an integral part of how we stay connected with families. Through the app, families receive regular updates on their child’s activities, progress, and experiences, as well as the latest news and events.
We have many resources at our setting such as a lending library, home learning packs, and seasonal events like autumn tea parties. Our Ellie the Elephant is also taken home on the weekends by a new child every week to help facilitate good behaviour at home and strong bonds with the nursery.
We encourage all our parents to take part in learning at home activities as we believe this is a key factor to further develop children’s interests.

Facilities
As our Crystal Palace Day Nursery is catered to babies aged 3 – 24 months, our nursery is located in one big room dived up into lots of different areas to help little ones get the most out of any learning situation.
Once they reach the toddlers stage, they transition to our Anerley Day Nursery and Preschool to continue on their nursery journey.
Our children love to get really messy! Sensory trays, painting and other creations is a massive part of our Crystal Palace day nursery experience.
Playrooms
At the front of the nursery, we have our quiet area where babies can enjoy a cuddle and a story. We also have some soft play equipment here and lots of teddies!
The main part of the room is where the construction zone is for creative building, and we also have our cosy corner here which feels like home away from home!
Jump left to our messy zone, where all the children can access at all times – sand, water play, paint, chalks and more is always freely played with.
Following through to the conservatory, we have our home corner where the children can dress up as whoever they would like to be – they can be a chef in their own kitchen or imitate home experiences, making coffee and tea, or work in a mini office!
Whilst in the conservatory they can look out of the window to the lovely forest garden where they can see the squirrels and birds eat from the bird feeders!
Garden
Going up the little slope we get to our main garden where you will see a pirate ship ball bit, a mud kitchen, rainbow ribbon wall and a crawl up sand pit!
We also have a forest garden where the children can see and feed wildlife such as squirrels and birds, spend peaceful time near the mini water fountain, and even plant some vegetables in our vegetable garden.

Activities
We have a wide range of activities at our nursery! We do Sow & Grow activities in our Forest Garden where we teach children how to plant flowers and vegetables.
Our children love to dance so we hold Boogie Mites sessions within our setting where they can dance and sing along to the different songs.
Something that is unique to us is that we invite our bilingual parents into our nursery to read stories in different languages to our children!
Community Outings
At our Crystal Palace nursery, we see so much benefit when we get our children out and about in the local community. Trips to the local park and shops, helps us teach our children the importance of road safety, being part of a wider community and get them to experience new surroundings.
