Lake House Day Nursery and Preschool in Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol, provides a warm and nurturing environment where children can grow in confidence, develop a love of learning and enjoy new experiences. Our newly refurbished nursery offers bright, engaging spaces designed to support every stage of a child’s development, helping them build the skills they need for school and beyond.
Families are at the heart of everything we do, and our dedicated team works closely with parents to create a supportive and enriching early years experience. Through thoughtfully designed playrooms, inspiring learning opportunities and a focus on curiosity, independence and wellbeing, we help children become happy, confident learners who are excited to explore the world around them.

Our location
Our Lake House Day Nursery and Preschool is conveniently located on the corner of a roundabout, directly opposite Amelia Lodge and just a short distance from Henleaze Lake. About Our Nursery in Bristol
Curriculum
Our dynamic and responsive curriculum combines In-The-Moment Planning, Montessori principles, and the Curiosity Approach to support each child’s individual development. Together with our bespoke education programmes, these approaches create an engaging learning environment, promoting independence, hands-on learning, respect for each child’s unique pace, curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.


Team
Our highly qualified, long-serving team is dedicated to supporting each child’s individual growth and development. With many staff holding Level 3 Early Years SEND qualifications, we provide exceptional support in a warm, nurturing environment, helping children build confidence, develop key skills, and foster a love of learning as they prepare for school and beyond.
Parent Partnership
We value strong partnerships with parents and families, keeping them involved in their child’s learning through our nursery app, parent evenings, workshops, and special family events. By encouraging participation in activities, celebrations, and show-and-tell sessions, we create a welcoming, collaborative community that supports every child’s development.
Playrooms
Our nursery is organised into two main playroom groups, Bumble Bees and Dragonflies, with a range of connected rooms that give children the freedom to move between activities, follow their interests and learn through play. Guided by our Swedish-inspired early years ethos and influenced by Montessori and child-led learning approaches, we provide rich opportunities for sensory play, exploration, creativity and discovery. A consistent key person system ensures every child feels secure, supported and valued throughout their nursery journey.
Outdoor Space
Our fantastic indoor-outdoor space that allows children to move freely and choose where they want to play. This versatile environment encourages exploration and creativity, providing ample opportunities for outdoor activities and hands-on learning. With a range of play equipment and natural elements, children can enjoy a variety of experiences. This seamless blend of indoor and outdoor space supports their development and promotes a sense of independence as they engage in play.

Activities
Our wide range of fun activities helps children develop new skills, build confidence and make new friends through play and exploration. From nature walks and cooking experiences to language groups, stories and creative activities, every day offers exciting opportunities to learn, grow and discover in a nurturing environment.
Community Outings
We absolutely love taking our children on adventures in our local community! Our regular outings give children the opportunity to investigate the world around them while experiencing the joy of new adventures. Visits to local shops, parks, community services and care homes help children learn through real-life experiences, build confidence and develop meaningful connections within their community.
