About Our Nursery in Bristol
Curriculum
Our curriculum is designed to be dynamic and responsive and include a blend of approcahes.
An In-The-Moment Planning approach allows children to learn in the present. This method encourages spontaneous exploration and discovery, enabling children to engage deeply with their interests as they arise.
We also incorporate the principles of the Montessori ethos, which emphasise independence, hands-on learning, and respect for each child’s unique pace of development.
Alongside this, we embrace the Curiosity Approach, fostering a sense of wonder and encouraging children to ask questions, investigate, and explore their surroundings.
Together, with our unique Education Programmes, these approaches create a rich and stimulating learning environment where every child can thrive and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Team
At Lake House Day Nursery, our highly qualified and long-serving team is dedicated to nurturing each child’s development.
Many of our staff members hold Level 3 qualifications in Early Years SEND, ensuring strong support for every child, including those with special educational needs.
Our team’s commitment to the children in our care goes above and beyond, creating a nurturing and supportive environment in our day nursery and pre school settings.
With a passion for Early Years education, our fantastic staff work tirelessly to help every child thrive as they prepare for school and beyond.
Parent Partnership
At Lake House Day Nursery, we prioritise our parent partnerships to keep families engaged in their child’s learning journey. We utilise our nursery app, which provides updates on your child’s activities, development milestones, and daily experiences.
We host parent evenings for families twice a year, allowing for meaningful discussions about your child’s progress and development.
Throughout the year, we also organise workshop weeks where families can join in on the fun, participating in themed activities alongside their children, such as Christmas celebrations, science experiments, and recycling projects.
We have special days dedicated to grandparents, inviting them to take part in learning and timeless play with their grandchildren.
‘Show and tell’ sessions encourage parents to share their occupations or hobbies with the children, fostering community connections and broadening their understanding of the world around them.
Together, these offerings create a welcoming and collaborative environment that enriches our nursery community.

Facilities
Our lovely, newly updated nursery interior provides a fresh and inviting space where our team can create engaging learning environments tailored to each child’s development.
Playrooms
Our nursery is arranged into two main playroom groups called Bumble Bees and Dragonflies. Each group includes several connected rooms, giving children the freedom to move between spaces and explore a wide range of activities throughout the day. This free flow setup encourages curiosity, confidence and independence as children follow their own interests.
Our approach draws on the Swedish early years ethos, which places strong value on play based learning, along with influences from Montessori, Curiosity and Scaffolding practice. Each room offers opportunities for calm time, sensory play, creativity and problem solving, supporting children’s emotional, social and cognitive growth.
Children belong to family key person groups and experience only one key person change as they progress. This helps create a consistent, nurturing environment where every child feels known, supported and understood.
Outdoor Space
Our garden area features a fantastic indoor-outdoor space that allows children to move freely and choose where they want to play.
This versatile environment encourages exploration and creativity, providing ample opportunities for outdoor activities and hands-on learning.
With a range of play equipment and natural elements, children can enjoy a variety of experiences, from climbing and running to gardening and imaginative play, all while connecting with nature.
This seamless blend of indoor and outdoor space supports their development and promotes a sense of independence as they engage in play.

Activities
We’re dedicated to creating joyful adventures for every child! Our delightful nature walks let children explore the wonders of nature, filling their hearts with curiosity and excitement.
In our fun cooking classes, they roll up their sleeves to whip up delicious treats, discovering the joy of healthy ingredients together. Plus, our lively language groups are bursting with laughter as we sing, play, and share stories, helping children blossom in their communication skills.
Our lovely nursery activities promote growth while creating a warm, nurturing, and exciting environment where every child feels loved, supported, and has plenty of fun.
Community Outings
At Lake House Day Nursery, we absolutely love taking our children on adventures in our local community!
Our children enjoy visiting nearby shops, where they not only discover their environment but also get to practice important life skills in a fun way.
Our trips to the parks are always a hit, providing plenty of opportunities for outdoor play and nature exploration that promote physical health and spark their sense of adventure.
We also have wonderful visits to the fire station, where the children learn about safety and the amazing work firefighters do to keep us safe.
One of our favourite outings is to the retirement centre, where our children get to spend quality time with seniors through games and activities. These interactions help create friendships and teach our little ones valuable lessons about kindness and cooperation.
Each outing enriches our children’s experiences and helps them feel a warm connection to the world around them.
