Curriculum

At Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool in Hanham, we focus on a ‘Hygge‘ Early Years approach to education for our children under two years old. This approach gives babies and toddlers the space to learn at their own pace in a calm environment.

For our older children, we follow the Curiosity Approach and In-The-Moment planning curriculum, which centres on the children’s interests, ensuring a flexible and child-led approach to learning. This allows children to explore and develop their own interests, likes, and dislikes. Our resources are of the highest quality, natural, and open-ended, encouraging creativity and independent thinking as children engage in hands-on learning experiences. This approach supports their overall development and nurtures a lifelong passion for discovery and learning.

Our curriculum incorporates our Education Programmes, with a strong focus on physical development through our Move & Groove activities, which emphasise the importance of exercise and movement to keep our children active and moving. In addition, our other programmes including Sow and Grow, Make and Bake, Innovate and Investigate, and Health and Self, are all designed to support children’s growth, creativity, and well-being.

Team

We are proud of our highly trained and dedicated team, who are committed to continually improving our nursery and ensuring the best possible outcomes for all our children.

We are passionate about developing our team, with many staff members achieving Level 5 qualifications in Early Years childcare education.

Our SENCo team are available to provide the best support to all our children.

All our staff members have the opportunity to progress to the managerial level and can achieve bespoke leadership qualifications within childcare.

Parent Partnership

We are dedicated to having good relationships with all our families by using our nursery app to keep in regular contact. This way our families are kept up to date with their child’s progress, daily activities, news and any nursery events taking place.

We regularly hold special events and celebrations for our families to visit the nursery and participate in fun days with their child. This includes Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Parents evenings, celebrating summer or Christmas festivities. We look forward to welcoming you to our nursery family.

Facilities

The layout of our nursery allows for a bright and airy setting that all our children enjoy. We have four nursery rooms: Discoverers, Explorers, Creators, Inventors. All of our children, no matter their age, have the room to grow and develop at their own pace.

Playrooms

All our playrooms are bright and spacious, featuring large windows that fill the space with natural light. We have the best high quality resources available for all ages and stages, and we try and ensure that all the items we use are made out of natural materials.

We believe all children progress at different rates, that’s why we don’t move children to more advanced rooms until they are physically and emotionally ready for the transition. As a rough guide, our Discoverers room is for those aged 3 months – 12 months, our Explorers room is for those aged 12 months – 18 months, our Creators room is for 18 months to 2.5 years, and our Inventors room is for children aged 2.5 years to preschool age.

Outdoor Space

We are well-known across Hanham for our expansive garden spaces, which include two large areas with natural grass.

Our children have year-round access to these outdoor spaces, regardless of the weather. With free-flow access, they can explore and enjoy the gardens whenever they choose.

Activities

At our nursery, we carry out a range of exciting and engaging activities that support each child’s development, from loose parts play to painting, to inspire creativity and learning.

Our children particularly enjoy junk modelling, Sing & Sign sessions, Boogie Mites lessons, and arts and crafts. We also incorporate Makaton in each of our rooms, nurturing communication skills from an early age.

To support learning at home, we provide take-home activity packs, giving families everything they need to enjoy one of our nursery activities together.

Community Outings

We notice the difference daily outings make to every child in our care. Our regular outings play a key role in helping children build confidence, self-esteem, and step outside their comfort zones.

We regularly take trips to local parks, and shops to buy baking ingredients, and enjoy nature walks, all of which support your child’s development.

These experiences offer valuable opportunities for discovery and learning, helping them to get to know their surroundings, and to equip them so they are prepared for school and beyond!
