The report highlighted an array of key strengths that set Dicky Birds Day Nursery and Preschool Brighton Road apart as a leading Early Years childcare provider. Inspectors found that children are very happy and feel at home in the warm and welcoming nursery environment, where staff greet every child with a smile and kind words. As a result, even the newest children settle quickly and develop strong, trusting relationships with both staff and their peers, giving them the confidence to explore, play, and thrive.

The inspection also praised how staff thoughtfully sequence children’s learning to support every stage of development. From babies strengthening their finger muscles through sensory play, to toddlers making marks with paint, and pre-schoolers confidently using scissors, staff ensure children gain the vital skills they need to succeed when they move on to school.

Leaders and managers were also commended for their ambition and reflective approach. They set out clear learning intentions for children’s development and are deeply committed to continuous improvement, consistently evaluating the quality of provision and planning enhancements such as strengthening outdoor play opportunities and encouraging children to care for the environment.
