Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool Burgess Hill has been recognised for its warm, nurturing environment following its latest Ofsted inspection on 29 May 2026.
Inspectors found that safeguarding standards are met, highlighting a positive culture where children’s safety and wellbeing are everyone’s responsibility. A Strong standard rating was achieved across Achievement, Behaviour and attitudes, and establishing routines, Curriculum and teaching, Inclusion, and Leadership and governance.
Children were described as curious, engaged learners who make secure and sustained progress from their starting points. Inspectors noted that children develop the skills, confidence and attitudes they need for future learning, building strong relationships with staff and gaining increasing independence as they move through the nursery.
Throughout the nursery, children are encouraged to explore, question and discover. From babies strengthening their physical skills as they learn to sit, crawl and pull themselves up, to older children measuring ingredients, identifying plants in the allotment and building dens together, learning is purposeful, engaging and tailored to children’s individual interests and stages of development.
Inspectors recognised children’s positive attitudes to learning, observing them working collaboratively to build sandcastles, create imaginative play experiences and solve problems together. Staff support children to regulate their emotions, respond sensitively to their needs and provide calm spaces where children feel safe, valued and understood.
Children are also supported to develop independence in meaningful ways. Older children confidently serve themselves at mealtimes, wash their plates and take part in school role-play activities, helping them prepare for the transition to school with confidence and excitement.
What stands out at Kiddi Caru Burgess Hill is the way learning is brought to life through hands-on experiences that spark children’s curiosity and imagination. The nursery regularly embraces themed learning opportunities, from transport adventures in the baby room that introduce new language and encourage exploration, to sensory under-the-sea experiences where children discover different textures, sounds and sights through play.
Children also enjoy practical experiences through the nursery’s Make and Bake programme, where baking activities help develop early mathematical understanding, fine motor skills and communication, while fostering independence and teamwork. Broader learning opportunities, such as celebrating World Tourism Day with imaginative staycation adventures, encourage children to explore different cultures and learn more about the world around them.
Families are actively involved in children’s learning journeys too, with access to a lending library and activity sacks, including resources designed to support oral health at home. Combined with large outdoor spaces, nurturing relationships and a curriculum built around children’s interests, these experiences help create a sense of belonging and make Kiddi Caru Burgess Hill a place where children feel confident, capable and excited to learn.
“We are incredibly proud of this result. Achieving a Strong Standard across 5 areas is a testament to our team’s commitment to providing high-quality care and education every single day. Most importantly, it reflects the happy, safe and enriching environment we create for our children and families.”
We would love to welcome you for a visit. Come and meet the team, explore the nursery and see how Little Monkey’s supports children to learn, grow and thrive.
