Curriculum

At Elan, we see learning as an adventure that’s sparked by your child’s natural curiosity! Our playful curriculum encourages little ones to follow their hearts and imaginations, whether they’re crafting with colourful resources or chasing butterflies in our garden. While we love the joy of free-flowing, child-led play, we also weave in ideas from different learning philosophies, like Froebel’s focus on nature and community. And our unique nursery education programmes such as ‘Make and Bake,’ ‘Sow and Grow,’ and ‘Move and Grove’—because a little guided fun adds just the right amount of sparkle to our days at preschool.

Team

The heart of our nursery setting is our dedicated team. With qualifications ranging from apprenticeships to degrees in early childhood studies, our staff bring years of experience and a passion for working with young children, providing exceptional care for children. Some team members have been with us for over a decade, helping to create a stable environment. There is always a proud moment for the team to come together and celebrate.

Parent Partnerships

We use our nursery app to keep you connected with your child’s day. This user-friendly platform allows families to access updates about their child’s activities, care routines and more.

Our open-door policy ensure that families can easily communicate with our staff, building strong, secure partnerships that benefit all nursery children.

Facilities

Classrooms are designed with care to create a calm and focused atmosphere. Light, neutral tones are used to keep the space serene, while the vibrant artwork and natural resources add warmth and character. Each area encourages exploration, creativity, and independence. We use natural and neutral resources where possible to reduce the noise of colour and encourage less plastic when we can.

Playrooms

Hedgehogs Room: for younger preschool children. Ideal for quieter, small-group nursery activities, with its own child-friendly facilities and a cosy area for rest.

Super Squirrels Room: for older preschool children getting ready for school. Features direct access to the garden and facilities to support children’s self-care and independence.

Each nursery environment for our age groups offers a variety of educational activities tailored to the developmental needs of the children.

Garden

Our amazing garden is a child’s paradise at our Haywards Heath preschool. With a covered sandpit, a mud kitchen, water play, and plenty of space to run and explore, we believe in the importance of learning in outdoor space. Our well-structured activities offer a fantastic balance of free-flow play, physical activity, and learning opportunities.

Activities

The children at our setting in Haywards Heath are always active and enjoy amazing and fun activities, including ProTots Sports Classes, a unique sporting and physical development programme, specifically designed for young children.

Community Outings

Our community outings include nature walks and games at Clare’s Park, located near our nursery. These outings provide children with the opportunity to connect with the environment throughout all seasons—winter, spring, summer, and autumn. They inspire a keen interest in nature, sparking stimulating conversations about the changes in the seasons and the animals that inhabit each unique climate. These experiences help children develop a deeper understanding of the natural world while inspiring a love for outdoor learning.
