The babies were excited to find a new addition in their room – a sand pit! They have enjoyed developing their hand-to-eye coordination, fine and gross motor skills. By filling and emptying buckets and bowls with the sand, burying dinosaurs and making marks. They have made marks using a variety of methods, including tyre tracks from vehicles, using their fingers to draw or making prints from the sloes of their shoes. The sand pit also encourages the children’s social and sharing skills, to make sure everyone has a chance to play.
