Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool Brislington celebrates Ofsted ‘Good’ rating

We’re thrilled to announce that Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool, Brislington, has been rated ‘GOOD’ in all areas following its Ofsted inspection on 5 August 2025!

This brilliant outcome reflects the hard work, passion, and dedication of our incredible Brislington team, who go above and beyond to create a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment where every child can flourish. Ofsted recognised the strong relationships between staff and children, the thoughtfully adapted curriculum, and staff’s commitment to supporting every stage of a child’s learning journey.

Highlights from Brislington’s Ofsted report

A nurturing start for every child

From the moment children arrive, they are welcomed into a warm, caring, and secure environment. As Ofsted highlighted, “Relationships between staff and babies are sensitive, warm and caring. The key-person system is well established and supports children at every stage of their learning journey.” This foundation helps children feel confident to try new things, explore independently, and thrive in their learning.

An engaging and balanced curriculum

Recent updates to the curriculum ensure it is broad, balanced, and tailored to children’s needs. Storytelling plays a central role, staff help children recall and sequence familiar tales before encouraging them to create their own imaginative versions. Ofsted noted, “Staff model listening attentively and respond to children’s ideas, extending their language and helping them to feel valued.”

Supporting physical development

Children enjoy a wide range of opportunities to build strength, balance, and coordination. Babies practise walking indoors and outdoors, navigating ramps and cruising between furniture. Older children test themselves on climbing frames, ladders, and rope swings. Ofsted praised how “staff help children to take risks independently and manage their safety well,” supporting them to meet important physical milestones.

Enriching sensory and creative experiences

Staff spark children’s curiosity through hands-on activities like making scented dough with flowers. Ofsted observed how “children mix their mixture with enthusiasm and enjoy the feeling of the ‘squelchy’ dough on their hands.” Mark-making is encouraged across the nursery, with children using different surfaces and materials to express their creativity. “Children proudly share their drawings and marks with their peers,” inspectors reported.

Fostering communication from the start

Language development is prioritised across all age groups. Babies enjoy discovering toy animals hidden in colourful paper while listening to nursery rhymes that reinforce new vocabulary. As Ofsted shared, “Babies giggle and babble with excitement, enjoying the rich time staff provide to help develop their speaking skills.” Older children engage in conversations, storytelling, and group activities that build confidence and communication skills.

Strong leadership and community spirit

Ofsted noted the positive and reflective culture at Brislington, highlighting how “leaders take effective action to support staff workload and well-being” and that they “listen to staff and parents’ views and respond swiftly to feedback.” This ensures everyone works together to help all children flourish.
