Within their preschool room the children have been working on their Eo-Schools project. They have formed a committee which we are has been named the ‘Eco Team’.
This Eco Team has discussed the different things that they can do to look after the planet and be more environmentally friendly. The children came up with lots of ideas and were very knowledgeable. One of the children spoke about how rubbish shouldn’t be in the sea because it will make the turtles poorly. Another little one explained about bins and that everyone should pick up their rubbish in the playground.
Charnwood has now set themselves some Eco-Schools goals so they can work their way to achieving their Bronze Award within the Eco-Schools programme.
The first one they aim to complete is turning of the lights when we go outside and making sure they are turned off in rooms that are not in use. The children also spent some time to design their own posters to display both within the nursery and at home to remind people to turn lights off when not in use. A great start to the programme and a brilliant way to raise awareness to the children.
