Kiddi Caru Day Nursery in Fareham celebrates Ofsted Good!

Kiddi Caru Day Nursery & Preschool in Fareham are celebrating their ‘Good’ Ofsted rating, which they received in their recent inspection which took place on 9 December 2024.  

The nursery scored ‘Good’ across all areas of criteria, showing the nursery team’s unwavering commitment to providing quality education and care to Early Years children.

Highlights from Kiddi Caru, Fareham’s Ofsted Report  

During the visit, the Ofsted inspector was impressed with how well the children had developed their skills to be effective communicators. ‘Staff working with babies use single words and simple sentences while being careful to model pronunciation,’ comments the Ofsted inspector. They also ‘provide babies with the time they need to process language.’ The nursery team work with older children, providing commentary and introducing new, descriptive language, such as ‘stringy’ when discussing spaghetti. The older children practise new words during conversations with their key person.  

‘Staff encourage children to learn to do things for themselves,’ comments the Ofsted inspector, which helps children prepare for their eventual move to school. This was demonstrated during mealtimes when children poured their own drinks and served their own meals. The inspector was equally impressed with how ‘older children support younger children in learning how to use cutlery and cut up their own food,’ showing amazing initiative and leadership amongst the older children.  

The report noted that the nursery team get great support from management; receiving regular supervision that focuses on their individual professional and personal development. The team have access to a wide range of training opportunities that enhance their practice, and they speak passionately about what they have learnt. For example, the inspector was pleased to hear the team talk excitedly about their recent baby training: ‘They talk enthusiastically about the changes they are going to make to enhance the environment and extend babies’ and children’s experiences.’ The team feels supported and valued at Kiddi Caru Day Nursery & Preschool in Fareham and feel like they can apply their own ideas.
